The Giro delle Regioni was a multi-day cycling race held annually in Italy. It is part of UCI Europe Tour in category 2.ncup, meaning it was part of the UCI Under 23 Nations' Cup. [1]

Peter Velits is a Slovakian former professional road racing cyclist. His career highlights included third place overall and a stage win at the 2010 Vuelta a España, the 2007 World Under-23 Road Race Championships gold and the 2012 Tour of Oman overall victory. Velits was also known as strong time-trialist, winning three consecutive team time trials as a part of Omega Pharma–Quick-Step in 2012 and 2013 and riding on the BMC Racing Team in 2014 UCI Road World Championships. His twin brother, Martin Velits also competed professionally, having raced on the same teams every year until the end of the 2013 season.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dimitri Konyshev</span> Russian cyclist

Dimitri Konyshev is a Russian former road bicycle racer. During the 1989 World Championship he can be seen in a rather famous photo of cycling history showing the agony of defeat in 2nd place behind Greg LeMond's display of the intensity of victory. In 1990 Konyshev would become the first ever rider from the Soviet Union to win a stage in the Tour de France. While the Soviet's would not allow their riders to join the professional teams until a short while before the end of the Cold War in the 1991 Tour de France, Soviet riders had remarkable success winning 5 stages. One by Viatcheslav Ekimov, two by Djamolidine Abdoujaparov who also won the Green Jersey and two stage wins by Konyshev. His victory in stage 17 also made him the last rider for the Soviet Union to win a Tour de France stage.

He held on as the field was closing in rapidly, with only Simon Gerrans who was second on the day being awarded the same time as Bole. In 2015, Bole was the victor of the first stage of the inaugural Tour of Croatia after negotiating a series of bends where two crashes occurred.
