Giuma Ahmad Atigha (born 1950[ citation needed ]) is a Libyan politician who has served as Deputy President of the General National Congress of Libya since 2012[ citation needed ],and Acting President of the General National Congress of Libya from the resignation of Mohamed Yousef el-Magariaf on 28 May 2013 to 25 June 2013.
On 7 July 2012,Giuma Ahmed Atigha was elected as an independent congressman in the 2012 Congressional election. On 10 August,he was elected as deputy president of the General National Congress. Atigha became the acting president of the Congress after the resignation of Mohammed Magariaf. As caretaker head of state,he became the Commander-in-chief of the army. [1]

The National Front for the Salvation of Libya (NFSL) was a political opposition group active during the rule of the Gaddafi regime in Libya. It was formed in 1981 and called for major liberalising reforms such as democratic elections,a free press,and the separation of powers. During the 1980s,it pursued a campaign of armed opposition to the Gaddafi regime and made several coup attempts,the most notable being its 1984 armed assault on Gaddafi's Bab al-Azizia compound in Tripoli. After the failure of this and several other coup attempts the group largely abandoned militancy,and instead used peaceful tactics to promote reform in Libya;in 2005,the NFSL joined with six other groups to form the National Conference for the Libyan Opposition.

Ali Zeidan is a former Prime Minister of Libya. He was appointed by the General National Congress on 14 October 2012,and took office on 14 November after Congress approved his cabinet nominees. Prior to the Libyan Civil War,Zeidan was a Geneva-based human rights lawyer and according to the BBC,he is considered by some local observers as a strong-minded liberal. He was ousted by the parliament committee and fled from Libya on 14 March 2014. However,he told the press conference in Rabat,Morocco,that the ousting was invalid.
Nouri Abusahmain is a Libyan politician. He is a major figure on the Islamist side of the 2014 Libyan Conflict and founder of the LROR group which is considered "terrorist" by the internationally recognized Libyan parliament. He is reported to have rigged proceedings of the General National Congress while serving as its president.
Ahmed Omar Maiteeg is a Libyan businessman and politician originally from Misrata,who was elected Prime Minister of Libya in May 2014. His election as prime minister took place under disputed circumstances. The Justice Ministry decided on 29 May that Maiteeg was not the Prime Minister due to voting procedural issue occurred when the First Deputy of GNC left the session without valid reason. The Libyan Supreme Court was expected to issue a verdict on 5 June 2014 regarding the election of Maiteeq,although it indicated on that day that it believed that the appointment of Maiteeq was invalid,the court stated that appeals should be heard and delayed a final ruling until 9 June. The court ruled on 9 June that Maiteeq appointment was invalid;Abdullah al-Thani is expected to stay on as prime minister. Maiteeq submitted his resignation voluntarily in same day.

The High Council of State,,is an advisory body for Libya formed under the terms of the Libyan Political Agreement which was signed on 17 December 2015. The agreement resulted from United Nations supported peace talks and has been unanimously endorsed by the Security Council. The High Council of state is able to advise the interim Government of National Accord (GNA) and the House of Representatives (HoR),currently based in Tobruk,and can express a binding opinion on these bodies under certain circumstances. The members of the council were nominated by remaining members of the General National Congress who in 2014 were not elected to the HoR.
