Giuseppe Picone (born 21 February 1976) is an Italian principal ballet dancer, choreographer, artistic director of the Ballet Company of Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
Picone was born in Naples, Italy and trained at the Ballet School of the Teatro di San Carlo. At the age of twelve he was chosen by Beppe Menegatti to dance the role of the young Nijinsky in the world première of the ballet Nijinsky, with Carla Fracci and Vladimir Vasiliev He also trained at the Accademia nazionale di danza in Rome and won both competitions of Rieti and Positano. Under the invitation of Pierre Lacotte at sixteen years old, he joined Ballet National de Nancy as a soloist, [1] and danced in the leading roles of Petruska (M. Fokine), La Sonnambula (G.Balanchine), Paquita (M.Petipa), L' Ombre (P.Lacotte). In 1993 he joined the English National Ballet in London as demi-soloist, where he danced until 1997, and then, at age 21, he was the first male Italian dancer to enter the American Ballet Theatre in New York as a soloist, with his debut in Ben Stevenson's Cinderella.
With Nina Ananiashvili danced the world première of Le Corsaire earning a nomination for the prestigious International Prize Benois pour la Dance. He was invited in Japan at “Nina Ananiashvili and Friends” and at the Gala' "Stars of Ballet 2006".
He is a guest artist of several important ballet companies as Royal Ballet of London, Boston Ballet, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Vienna State Opera, Het National Ballet of Amsterdam, Los Angeles Dance Theatre, Bucarest National Opera, Ballet National of Cuba, Ballet National de Bordeaux, Ljubljana National Ballet, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo, and at International Festival and Galas'.
John Clifford, Director of the Los Angeles Dance Theatre, created the role of Humphrey Bogart in the Dance Musical Casablanca.
Under the invitation of Renato Zanella he was the first Italian to guest at the New Years Concert 2005 live worldwide from Vienna.
In Italy guested in many TV broadcasting including, Festa della Repubbica from Rome, the final night of the famous Festival of Sanremo 2009, Premio Caruso from Sorrento and in 2010 was the leading dancer of the Italian New Years Concert from the Theatre la Fenice of Venice. [2]
In March 2010 he was the only Italian dancer to take part at the New York City Center Theatre Galà Tribute to a dance legend - Vladimir Vassiliev. Andrea Bocelli invited him to his famous annual concert in Lajatico (Italy), with such star as Carreras and Italian Pop Star Zucchero. In December 2010 he recorded in Pisa the Galà Concert of Bocelli "Notte Illuminata".
Since 2004 he has been artistic director of the Gran Gala' (Picone and The Giants of Ballet).
Since 2016 he has been director of the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli Ballet Company. As a choreographer he create a new version of Nutcraker and Cinderella, and an acclaimed version of Bolero. Tchaikowsky Classic, Elegie, Carmina Burana and Homage to Verdi, are among other works he has created in the last years. In 2019 at the Arena di Verona for the opera La Traviata by Maestro Franco Zeffirelli, he choreographed the dance scene of "Le zingarelle e Matadores" and it went on air live on the Italian channel Rai1. In May 2023 he was invited by Maestro Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli to the Opera House of Tirana to stage his new version of Don Quixote.

He was the recipient of Premio Positano in 1997 and 2002, Premio Caserta 1999, Premio Gino Tani, as well as Premio Danza and Danza as Best Dancers in 2002, he danced at Gala' of Dance at Cannes's Festival, with Etoiles of Ballet 2000, as one of Dancers of 2004 and he was the recipient of Premio Anita Bucchi as best male dancer 2005/2006, Premio Asti Danza 2007, International Prize Apulia Arte 2008 and Prize MozArt Box 2008, Prize Gold Ginstra 2010 and received the first Prize Ugo Dell'Ara 2010, which took place in Palermo.
Ekaterina Sergeyevna Maximova was a Soviet and Russian ballerina of the second part of the 20th century who was internationally recognised. She was a prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre for 30 years, a ballet pedagogue, winner of international ballet competitions, Laureate of many prestigious International and Russian awards, a professor in GITIS, Honorary professor at the Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, and an Executive Committee member of the Russian Center of Counseil International De La Danse, UNESCO.

Ambra Vallo is an Italian classical ballet dancer. Born in Naples, Italy, she was a principal dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Carolina "Carla" Fracci was an Italian prima ballerina, actress and ballet director. Considered one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century, she was a leading dancer of La Scala Theatre Ballet in Milan, then worked freelance with international companies including the Royal Ballet, London, Stuttgart Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Fracci is known for her interpretation of leading characters in several Romantic ballets, such as La Sylphide, Giselle, Swan Lake, and Romeo and Juliet. She also performed in ballets such as Nijinsky and Complete Bell Telephone Hour Performances: Erik Bruhn 1961–1967. She danced with partners including Erik Bruhn, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov. Later, she directed several ballet companies in Italy, including at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Rome.
Amedeo Amodio is an Italian choreographer and former ballet dancer. Trained at the Teatro alla Scala where he performed notably with Carla Fracci, he was appointed artistic director of the Reggio Emilia based modern ballet company Aterballetto in 1979 and served in that role until 1996. Most recently, in 2003, he accepted a position as artistic director of the ballet company at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sicily.
The La Scala Theatre Ballet is the resident classical ballet company at La Scala in Milan, Italy. One of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the world, the company pre-dates the theatre, but was officially founded at the inauguration of La Scala in 1778. Sergio Rendine was an Italian composer of operas, ballets, symphonies, cantatas and chamber music. He worked as a lecturer at the Conservatorio Alfredo Casella, for the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and for SIAE. He was artistic director of the Teatro Marrucino in Chieti from 1997 to 2007. He received awards for Alice, a "radiophonic opera". His opera Un segreto d'importanza was premiered by the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. His Missa de beatificatione in onore di Padre Pio da Pietrelcina, a mass written for the beatification of Pio of Pietrelcina, was premiered in 1999 in Vatican City, with José Carreras as a soloist. His oratorio Passio et Ressurrectio was recorded live and broadcast from the cathedral in Chieti premiere, and his two symphonies were recorded by Chandos Records.

Carlo Di Lanno is an Italian ballet dancer. He is a former Principal Dancer with the San Francisco Ballet and Dresden Semperoper Ballett. He trained and graduated at Accademia Teatro alla Scala, and danced with Teatro alla Scala and Staatsballett Berlin.
Friedemann Vogel is a German ballet dancer who performs with the Stuttgart Ballet as a Principal dancer and as a frequent guest artist at major ballet companies around the world including La Scala Theatre Ballet in Milan and the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. He has been awarded several prestigious dance prizes including the Prix de Lausanne (1997), Prix de Luxembourg (1997), Eurocity Competition in Italy, USA International Ballet Competition (1998) and Erik Bruhn Prize (2002). In September 2015, he was awarded the national title Kammertänzer - the highest honor in Germany that can be bestowed on a dancer. In the following year, 2016, he was awarded the "Prix Maya" for "Outstanding Dancer" alongside Aurélie Dupont and Diana Vishneva. In 2019, he was elected "Dancer of the Year" by the prestigious trade journal TANZ, making him the only male dancer worldwide ever to receive this distinction more than once. In 2020, he is honoured with the "Outstanding Performer" Award by the prestigious German Dance Prize for his longstanding and illustrious international career, and as a unique dance interpreter, with his combination of intense emotional portrayals and excellent technique. In 2021, he was selected to give the official International Dance Day message by the International Theatre Institute - the world's largest performing arts organisation, under the patronage of UNESCO. In 2022, Friedemann was appointed jury member of the prestigious Prix de Lausanne, 25 years after he was a prize winner himself.
Francesco Ventriglia is an Italian ballet dancer, choreographer and artistic director. In 2010 he was appointed as Europe's youngest artistic director by the Florence Opera House at the age of 32, where he held the role as artistic director and principal choreographer for Maggio Danza until 2013. In 2014, he was named the artistic director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet until June 2017, and from January 2018, as adjunct artistic director of the National Ballet of Uruguay, Ballet Nacional Sodre alongside Igor Yebra. Ventriglia is also a choreographer of classical and contemporary ballet, having works performed internationally by companies such as the La Scala Ballet, Arena di Verona, Bolshoi Theatre, the Mariinsky Ballet, Grande Theatre du Geneve, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Ballet Nacional Sodre and at the Venice Biannale.
Sara Renda is an Italian classic ballet dancer, on 15 December 2015 nominated Étoile at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, one of the youngest dancers to receive this recognition.
Petra Conti is an Italian prima ballerina. She is a former principal dancer with Los Angeles Ballet, the Boston Ballet and La Scala Theatre Ballet. She is now the artistic director of her own ballet company, Hollywood Ballet.
Elisabetta Terabust was an Italian ballerina and company director. She trained at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and worked for the London Festival Ballet and the Ballet National de Marseille. Terabust served as director of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, La Scala, MaggioDanza of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and of the Corps de ballet at the Teatro di San Carlo at various points between 1990 and 2009. The primary ballet rehearsal room at the Teatro dell'Opera Di Roma Dancing School was renamed for her.
