Glenn Astwood (born 16 November 1954) is a Bermudian sailor. He competed in the Tornado event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [1]

Dr. Ronald M. Evans is known for his original discoveries of nuclear hormone receptors (NR), a special class of transcriptional factor, and the elucidation of their universal mechanism of action, a process that governs how lipophilic hormones and drugs regulate virtually every developmental and metabolic pathway in animals and humans. Nowadays, NRs are among the most widely investigated group of pharmaceutical targets in the world, already yielding benefits in drug discovery for cancer, muscular dystrophies, osteoporosis, type II diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. His current research focuses on the function of nuclear hormone signaling and their function in metabolism and cancer.

Edwin Bennett Astwood was a Bermudian-American physiologist and endocrinologist: his research on endocrine system led to treatments for hyperthyroidism, first published in 1943 in what has subsequently been called a "landmark" paper. In 1949 he showed that methimazole was superior to alternative therapies for Graves' disease and this became a standard treatment for the condition.

Samuel Glenn "Tiny" Hartranft was an American athlete. He competed in the shot put and discus throw at the 1924 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the shot put, placing sixth in the discus. He won the IC4A championships in both events in 1922 and 1924. In 1924 he set a world record in the discus, which was not ratified because of high wind. He set an official world record next year at 47.89 m.
