Glenn Yong (born 10 October 1996) [1] is a Singaporean actor and singer. Yong was voted and ranked number 62 among the top 100 most handsome faces in the world by TC Candler. He is also the first Singaporean to make it onto the TC Candler Global list. He debuted on the television screen in 2021 with Live Your Dreams  [ zh ] (大大的梦想), and in the movies in 2021 with Ah Girls Go Army .

Early life and education

Glenn Yong was born on 10 October 1996 in Singapore. He is the youngest in the family with an older brother. [2]

Yong attended PAP Kindergarten, Peicai Secondary School and Temasek Polytechnic. [3] After National Service, Yong studied at Murdoch University and graduated in October 2020, with a degree in marketing. [4]

Career

In 2019, Yong started acting as a supporting role in The Good Fight (致胜出击) in which he played the younger version of one of the main characters. [5]

In 2020, Yong was cast in the television series Victory Lap (水漾少年) alongside Thailand GMM artiste Earth Pirapat. [6] [7] Yong released his first single 妈妈好 in May 2020.

In September 2021, Yong made his acting debut and starred in his breakout role as 孙易安, [8] the male lead role in the musical drama series, Live Your Dreams  [ zh ] (大大的梦想). [6] Yong's first solo original soundtrack (OST) song, 幸福的未来, was also released in the soundtrack album together with the drama series.

In October 2021, Yong was cast as the male lead for Jack Neo's Ah Girls Go Army with the role of Sergeant Chow, one of the two trainers in the movie. [9] [10] [11] The film was widely panned by audiences and critics. [12]

In March 2022, Yong performed at the National Stadium for "Relay For Life 2022" event organized by Singapore Cancer Society. [13] In May, he was appointed as Singapore Cancer Society's Goodwill Ambassador to raise cancer awareness among the youth. [14]

In May 2022, Yong joined media company ConfirmGood as its head of marketing. [15]

In June 2022, Yong released his new first English single and music video, UP UP, about his experiences in the entertainment industry since his debut in 2019 and he hopes to encourage and empower people to keep moving up despite the odds. [16]

With the continuation of Jack Neo's Ah Girls Go Army movie, Ah Girls Go Army Again was released as well with Yong acting as Sergeant Chow in the movie. [17]

In September 2022, Yong filmed his next movie titled The King of Musang King as one of the lead roles, which was released in early 2023. [18]

In November 2022, Yong performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for Sing.浪 Concert 2022 with up to a crowd of 8,000 audiences in total.

In December 2022, over 320,000 worldwide celebrities and 1800 nominees, Yong was voted and ranked number 62 of the top 100 most handsome faces in the world on TC Candler. Yong is also the first Singaporean to make it on the TC Candler Global list. [19]

In June 2023, Yong began filming Jack Neo's I Not Stupid 3 , playing the male lead role. [20]

Money No Enough 3 is a 2024 Singaporean comedy film written and directed by Jack Neo. It is the standalone sequel to 1998's Money No Enough and 2008's Money No Enough 2, with Neo, Mark Lee and Henry Thia portraying as three kampong friends and brothers as each of them faces their own family and financial problems. On 25 March 1999, an 18-year-old woman Malaysian named Koh Mew Chin was found murdered in her rented flat at Singapore's Pasir Ris, where she lived with her boyfriend and several other Malaysians working in Singapore. The King of Musang King is a 2023 Singaporean-Malaysian comedy film directed by Jack Neo. The film stars Neo, Yeo Yann Yann, Mark Lee, Henry Thia, Gadrick Chin, Glenn Yong, Angeline Teoh and Jamie Chu. Set in Raub, Pahang, Malaysia, the film follows an ambitious durian farmer Wang Mao Shan (Neo) who aims to expand his business overseas. He develops feelings for his neighbour and business partner Liu Mei Lian (Yeo) along the way but faces complications when her estranged husband Wang Jin Shui (Lee) returns. On 27 February 1991, inside his home at Geylang, 32-year-old businessman Ng Keng Hua was stabbed twice by two attackers during a robbery bid, and he died as a result of the stabbing while warded at a hospital. One of the murderers, Tan Bee Hock, was found guilty of murdering Ng and sentenced to death in 1993. The other man, Toh Laie, however, remains on the run since then, and he was never found.
