God of Black, stylized as GXX XX BXXXK Volume. 1, is a mixtape by American hip hop musician SpaceGhostPurrp. It was released for free on February 3, 2012, months before his debut album, Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp .
Shortly after the mixtape's release, British music magazine Fact gave God of Black a 3.5 out of 5 rating, stating, "God Of Black Purrrp does things by himself, for himself, with mixed results." [1]
As 2012 concluded, Fact rated God of Black its fifth best album in its The 50 Best Albums of 2012 article, stating: [2]
"Yes, plenty of the material from God of Black was cleaned up and re-released by 4AD this summer – in an absolutely beautiful package, we should add – but we’d still rather listen to February’s grottier, grittier God of Black given the choice. A serious step-up from past mixtape Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6, God of Black marks the point where Spaceghostpurrp shed (most of) his skin as a Three 6 Mafia tribute act and established himself as one of hip-hop’s most intriguing new voices."

Dennis David Coles, better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, is an American rapper and a member of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. After the group achieved breakthrough success in the aftermath of Enter the Wu-Tang , the members went on to pursue solo careers to varying levels of success. Ghostface Killah debuted his solo career with Ironman, which was well-received by music critics, in 1996. He has enjoyed continued success in the years that have followed, releasing critically acclaimed albums such as Supreme Clientele (2000) and Fishscale (2006). His stage name was taken from one of the characters in the 1979 kung fu film The Mystery of Chess Boxing. He is the founder of his own record label, Starks Enterprises.
Three 6 Mafia is an American hip hop group from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1991. Emerging as a horror-themed underground hip hop group, they would eventually go on to enjoy mainstream success. The group's 1995 debut album Mystic Stylez became an influential cult classic. Richard O'Neil Burrell, better known by his stage name Robb Banks, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in New York City and raised in Broward County, Florida, he gained recognition with the Raider Klan movement in 2012. In that year, he released his debut mixtape Calendars and its follow-up, Tha City the following year. He is best known for his association with fellow South Florida-based cloud rap artists, namely XXXTentacion and the group Members Only, as well as his 2013 singles "All the Way Live" and "On Me". Mista Thug Isolation is the debut studio album by American rapper Lil Ugly Mane. It was self-released via Bandcamp on February 11, 2012, with a vinyl release by Hundebiss Records. The album is entirely self-produced as Shawn Kemp, with guest appearances from Supa Sortahuman and Denzel Curry.
Blackland Radio 66.6 is a mixtape by American rapper SpaceGhostPurrp. It was self-released on May 1, 2011, and re-released in February 2017, by Yeah We On Entertainment. The majority of the mixtape is self-produced, and features guest production and vocals from Lil Ugly Mane, Main Attrakionz, Supa Sortahuman, and J.K. the Reaper. The artwork was created by Lil Ugly Mane and Chino Amobi.

Raider Klan was an American hip hop collective formed in the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens, in 2008. It grew to include members from other U.S. cities, such as Memphis, Seattle (Thraxxhouse), and Houston. They are widely regarded by fans, critics, and fellow artists as one of the most influential hip hop movements of the 2010s. In 2012, the Guardian cited them as one of the key acts bringing back hip hop groups.
Phonk is a subgenre of hip hop and trap music directly inspired by 1990s Memphis rap. The style is characterized by vocals from old Memphis rap tapes and samples from early 1990s hip hop, especially cowbell samples resembling that of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. The genre draws from the dark, distortive techniques of the chopped and screwed sound.
