Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora is the ninth studio album by American metal band Darkest Hour. It was released worldwide on March 10, 2017 through Southern Lord Records. The album features guest guitarist Kris Norris who previously played with the band from 2001 to 2008, contributing with some additional guitar work. Early preorders of the album were bundled with their first full-length live DVD recorded in 2015 for the 10th anniversary of Undoing Ruin . This was limited to 1,100 copies. The band made a digital version of the album available to fans who contributed to their Indiegogo campaign on February 17, 2017.
The album was the last to feature longtime lead guitarist Mike "Lonestar" Carrigan, who departed the band in July 2020.

Darkest Hour is an American metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1995. Though failing to break through early in their tenure, the band has received acclaim for their albums Undoing Ruin, Deliver Us, and The Eternal Return. Deliver Us debuted at number 110 on the Billboard album charts, with sales of 6,600, and their more recent effort The Eternal Return garnered them an even higher position in the Billboard album charts at number 104. Their album Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora charted at 42 on the Billboard 200, a peak for the band, and it marked a stylistic shift in the band's discography.
Undoing Ruin is the fourth full-length studio album by melodic death metal/metalcore band Darkest Hour, released on June 28, 2005.
Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation is the third full-length studio album by American melodic death metal band Darkest Hour. It was released in 2003, and contains nine tracks on the regular release and ten for the Japanese release and the limited edition DVD. "For The Soul of the Savior" includes a solo by Kris Norris which replaces the last part of the original song. It is also the first Darkest Hour album to feature Kris Norris on lead guitar.

The artwork was created by John Baizley who has also done art for bands such as Pig Destroyer and his own band Baroness. It is also the last album to feature lead guitarist Kris Norris.
Kris Norris is an American musician. He is a former lead guitarist for heavy metal bands Scar the Martyr, Darkest Hour and Canadian metalcore band Threat Signal. He is also known for his stints as touring guitarist for God Forbid and Straight Line Stitch. Kris released a solo record "Icons of the Illogical" with The Kris Norris Projekt on Magna Carta Records in early 2009.
The Eternal Return is the sixth studio album by American melodic death metal band Darkest Hour released on June 23, 2009 through Victory Records. The album was produced by Brian McTernan who had previously produced Darkest Hour's debut album The Mark of the Judas in 2000. The album fulfilled the band's contract with Victory, making it their last release through the label.
Option Paralysis is the fourth studio album by American mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan, released on March 23, 2010. After having fulfilled their contract with Relapse Records, the band released the album through Party Smasher Inc., their own new imprint in collaboration with French record label Season of Mist. It is the first album to feature bassist Aaron Deal and drummer Travis Orbin. The album marks their significant departure from their usual melodic death metal sound, instead having a more mainstream approach with elements of metalcore more prominent, with a more upbeat style and many clean vocals placed throughout. This style has only been utilised on this release to date however, as with the band's next release, Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora, would see a return to their original style.

The song was featured in the documentary The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years, where it received a music video as well as featuring on the films official soundtrack released under Capitol. Dave Mustaine has said that the song has one of his favorite solos that he has written.
