Godobjiran (also Godob Jiraan, Gadobjiran, Godob Jiiraan) is a large village in the Mudug Region of Puntland in northern Somalia.

Administrative status

Overlapping with Somalia's federal structure, the Puntland State of Somalia also created its own administrative divisions. In Puntlands' own system, Godobjiran serves as the center of the Godobjiran District (somali: Degmada Godobjiran) in the Nugal region. Godobjiran's district status is only used and valid in Puntland, but not in Somalia's federal administrative system. The Puntland government has not issued maps of the districts' boundaries.

Education

According to the Puntland Ministry of Education, there is a primary school in Godobjiran. [1] Google Maps also mentions a secondary school (somali: dugsiga sare).

Economy

In March 2015, the Ministry of Labour, Youth and Sports in conjunction with the European Union and World Vision launched the Nugal Empowerment for Better Livelihood Project in the Godobjiran, Garowe, Dangorayo, Eyl and Burtinle districts of Puntland. The three-year initiative is valued at $3 million EUR, and is part of the New Deal Compact for Somalia. It aims buttress the regional economic sector through business support, training and non-formal education programs, community awareness workshops, and mentoring and networking drives. [2]

Somali Civil War

In March 2015, it was taken over by Al-Shabaab. [3] However this did not last long, as the territory was taken over by Puntland security forces.

Budunbuuto is a town in the Jariiban District, located in the northern part of the Mudug Region in Somalia. The town is part of Puntland, a self-declared autonomous state in Somalia. There is another town with the same name, Budunbuuto, which is also in Puntland but is located further north in the Eyl District of the Nugaal Region.
