Goitse Konopi is a South African technology entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Suppple Group Plc. He previously co-founded GovChat, South Africa's citizen to government engagement platform and the medical cannabis company South Grown. [1]
Konopi attended Pretoria Boys High School. He later studied at the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Political Science. He later completed his postgraduate Honours Degree in Social Science in Development Studies in 2016 from Pretoria. [2]
Konopi began his career in government, working as a ministerial staffer at South Africa's National Planning Commission for Trevor Manuel from 2011 to 2012. He later served as a researcher in the Presidency from 2013 to 2016. In 2013, he briefly worked as a consultant to the World Bank on the Independent Panel Review Report on Ease of Doing Business Report. During Trevor Manuel's tenure, he was also a researcher for the Oxford Martin Commission for Future Generations, chaired by Pascal Lamy. where Manuel was a member. [3] [4]
In 2017, Konopi founded South Grown, a company producing medical cannabis and cannabidiol products. [5] [6]
In 2015 he co-founded GovChat with Eldrid Jordaan. The platform enabled communication between citizens and government through mobile applications and received venture capital funding from JSE listed Capital Appreciation. [7] [8] It was adopted as South Africa's official citizen to government enagement platform. Konopi left the company in 2022. [9] [10] [11] [12]
In 2022, he co-founded the artificial intelligence and software development company Suppple Group Plc with Eldrid Jordaan. [13] [14] [15]
