Music for a Slaughtering Tribe is the third release and first full-length album by the German electro-industrial project Wumpscut.

21st Circuitry was a record label based in San Francisco, California that was founded in early 1991 and released electro-industrial, industrial rock, and similar styles of music. The label signed a number of artists, including, Covenant, Unit:187, and Xorcist, as well as releasing a number of compilation albums targeted at the industrial scene. Some releases were distributed via other labels, including Caroline Records and Metropolis Records. In 1999, 21st Circuitry shut its doors and its remaining stock was purchased by Metropolis Records.

Forma Tadre is a German musical project that can best be described as electro with a feel of soundtracks and ambient but has also been categorized as industrial or electronic body music. The only member of Forma Tadre is Andreas Meyer, also known as Andy Meya.

Matteo Garrone is an Italian filmmaker. Born in Rome, the son of a theatre critic, Nico Garrone and a photographer, in 1996 Garrone won the Sacher d'Oro, an award sponsored by Nanni Moretti, with the short film Silhouette, that became one of the three episodes that are on his first long feature, Terra di Mezzo in 1997. He won Best Director at the European Film Awards and at the David di Donatello Awards for Gomorrah. His film Reality competed in competition at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix.

Some tracks are taken from Wumpscut's original demo tapes in 1991 and 1992 and some are remixes from "Music for a Slaughtering Tribe". There are also 17 or so previously unreleased old tracks. Gomorrah is a 2008 Italian crime film directed by Matteo Garrone, based on the non-fiction book of the same name by Roberto Saviano, who also collaborated in the screenplay. It deals with the Casalesi clan, a crime syndicate within the Camorra — a traditional criminal organization based in Naples and Caserta, in the southern Italian region of Campania. The film was released in Italy on 16 May 2008, and premiered in North America at TIFF on 11 September 2008, followed by release in New York City and Los Angeles on 13 February 2009. Gomorrah received critical acclaim, and also won five awards at the 2008 European Film Awards.

The 21st Annual European Film Awards took place on December 6, 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
