"Goodnight-Loving Trail" is a song by Utah Phillips about the cattle trail of the same name. One of the namesakes of the trail, Charles Goodnight is also credited with inventing the chuckwagon. [1] Lyrics and liner notes are available from the author's website.

A significant composition of the early 1960s folk revival, the song is a melancholy reflection on a failing romantic relationship. The singer expresses a desire for a possible reunion in a new place in the future but acknowledges the likelihood that the relationship is over.
