Gopi Prasannaa is an Indian graphic designer who has designed many movie posters in the South Indian film industry. His notable works include the graphic novel-style poster for Aaranya Kaandam (2010) and introducing first-look posters with Kaththi (2014). During the COVID-19 lockdown, he gained recognition for the nostalgic series 'Ninaivugalai Thedi'.

Personal life

Prasannaa's first film in a theater was Salangai Oli (1983) when he was 6 years old. [1] He was also interested in painting during his childhood. [2] Prasannaa admires movie poster artists like Tom Martin and some Japanese artists. He was inspired from the hand-drawn movie hoardings of Chennai's golden era and Maniyan Selvam's illustrations in Ananda Vikatan magazines during his youth. [3]

Career

Prasannaa initially worked as a programmer, tried his hand in gaming, advertising and branding, before starting a career as a publicity designer. [4] [3] His journey in publicity design began with the Tamil film Aaranya Kaandam , directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja in 2010. [4] [5] The poster was styled as a graphic novel fully illustrated in yellow and black making it the first of its kind for the Tamil industry. [6] In 2014, Prasannaa introduced the trend of first-look posters in Tamil cinema with the film Kaththi, a social drama directed by AR Murugadoss. [6] [7] During the COVID-19 lockdown in India, Prasannaa created a series of retro movie posters for films like Sadma , 16 Vayathinile , Mullum Malarum , Mouna Raagam, Antha 7 Naatkal which are part of the 10-part series. [8] [2] The series was named 'Ninaivugalai Thedi', which translates to 'chasing memories'. [1] [2] He drew inspiration from the poster of Salangai Oli for the series. [1]

In 2021, the first-look poster of Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, released on New Year's Eve. It quickly went viral on social media and set records. [9]

Aaranya Kaandam is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language gangster film written and directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja in his directorial debut. It is supposedly the first neo-noir film in Tamil cinema. The plot takes place in a day in the lives of the six protagonists, played by Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj and debutants Yasmin Ponnappa, Guru Somasundaram and Master Vasanth. Produced by S. P. B. Charan's Capital Film Works, the musical score of the film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by P. S. Vinod and editing handled by the duo Praveen K. L.-N. B. Srikanth.

The Vijay for Best Stunt Director is given by STAR Vijay as part of its annual Vijay Awards ceremony for Tamil (Kollywood) films.

The film stars Vijay in dual roles, alongside Samantha, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Sathish, Sudip Mukherjee, Rama, and Jeeva Ravi. Produced by Tyler Durden and Kino Fist, Alchemy Vision Works, and East West Dream Work Entertainment, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Ramya Krishnan. <i>Super Deluxe</i> (soundtrack) 2019 film score by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Super Deluxe is the soundtrack to the 2019 Tamil-language film of the same name, co-written, co-produced and directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. The album featured 18 instrumental pieces, composed, arranged, produced and programmed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, eventually marking his second collaboration with Kumararaja after Aaranya Kaandam (2011). Unlike, his first film which had no songs, Kumararaja demanded to include a soundtrack having lyrical songs, but later abandoned. This film, eventually marked Yuvan's third musical which did not contain any songs. The team, however reused licensed compositions from yesteryear films.

Akkineni Sreekar Prasad is an Indian film editor known for his extensive work across multiple Indian cinema industries, including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films. He is the son of Akkineni Sanjeevi, a Telugu film editor and director who introduced him to film editing, and the nephew of filmmaker L.V. Prasad. He assisted his father for about twenty films. Black is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language science fiction horror film written and directed by KG Balasubramani. It is an adaptation of the 2013 American film Coherence. It is produced by S. R. Prakash Babu, S. R. Prabhu, P Gopinath and Thanga Prabaharan R under Potential Studios LLP. The film stars Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles, alongside Vivek Prasanna, Yog Japee, Sha Ra and Swayam Siddha.
