The Governor of Sahil is the chief executive of the Somaliland region of Sahil, leading the region's executive branch. Governors of the region are appointed to office by the Somaliland president. The current governor of Sahil is Ahmed Osman Hassan. [1] [2]
Marodi Jeh is an administrative region (gobol) in western Somaliland. It is considered to be the most populous region of the country. It is bordered by Awdal to the west, Sahil to the north, Togdheer to the east and Ethiopia to the south. Marodi Jeh was created by splitting the previously existing region (gobolka) Woqooyi Galbeed in two, the other part being Sahil. In 2007 the region of Woqooyi Galbeed was renamed to Maroodi Jeex. Woqooyi Galbeed was thus much larger than Marodi Jeh.
The regions of Somaliland is divided into six administrative regions, Awdal, Sahil, Maroodi-Jeeh, Togdheer, Sanaag and Sool. These are in turn subdivided into twentytwo districts. Regions of Somaliland are the primary geographical divisions through which Somaliland is administered. A distinction is made between districts of grades A, B, C and D, with the classification being based on population, area, economy and production.
Hassan Haji Mohamoud, also known as Hassan Gadhweyneh, is a Somali politician, the longest serving Minister of Education of Somaliland (2003-2010), the Mayor of Berbera (1998-2003), Governor of Sahil region of Somaliland from (1998-2003). He also served as the Deputy-Mayor of Mogadishu from (1975-1991).
El Ayo, also known as El Ayum, is a coastal town in the eastern Sanaag region of Somaliland, near the border with Somalia. There is a base of the Puntland Maritime Police Force, which is effectively controlled by Puntland.
Gambadhe is a town in the Sool region of Somaliland. A dry port has been constructed in the town. The town is located roughly 30km southeast of the city of Las Anod.
El-Sheikh is a coastal settlement in the western edge of the Sahil region of Somaliland.
Sahil is an administrative region (gobol) in northern Somaliland with the port city of Berbera as its capital. It was separated from Woqooyi Galbeed and became a province in 1991. In 1998, the Sheikh District of Togdheer was incorporated into Sahil region. The region has a long coastline facing the Gulf of Aden to the north. Sahil borders Awdal to the northwest, Maroodi Jeex to the southwest, Togdheer to the south and Sanaag to the east.
The Ministry of Agricultural Development of the Republic of Somaliland (MoA) is a government ministry of Somaliland responsible for agriculture. The ministry is responsible for formulating and implementing the agricultural policies, forestry, water resources, irrigation, promotion and development of farmers and cooperative systems. The current minister is Mohamed Haji Osman.
Abdishakur Mohamoud Hassan Iddin is a Somaliland politician who is the current Mayor of Berbera, Somaliland. Iddin belongs to the Issa Musa sub-division of the Habr Awal Isaaq clan.
The Issa Musa or ‘Isa Musa is a northern Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Habr Awal clan of the Isaaq clan family. The Isa Musa are divided into four major sub-clans: Mohammed Issa, Adam Issa, Abokor Issa and Idarais Issa. The Isa Musa traditionally consists of coastal people, nomadic pastoralist and merchants. This clan are primarily settled in Somaliland, including Maroodi Jeex, Togdheer, Sahil, Ethiopia, as well as Kenya. The Issa Musse have produced many prominent Somali figures with the Undersecretary General of the United Nations Abdulrahim Abby Farah, the first Somali Prime Minister & second President of Somaliland Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal, and the second tallest man in the world Hussein Bisad.
The Mayor of Erigavo is the chief executive of the city of Erigavo, the capital of Sanaag region in Somaliland. The current mayor is Ismail Haji Nour, who took office on 23 December 2012.
The Mayor of Las Anod is the chief executive of the city of Las Anod, the capital of Sool region in Somaliland. The current mayor is Abdirahim Ali Ismail, who took office on 20 June 2021.
