Chittoor is a city and district headquarters in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is also the mandal and divisional headquarters of Chittoor mandal and Chittoor revenue division, respectively. The city has a population of 153,756 and that of the agglomeration is 175,647.

It is located 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of the Penna River. The city is surrounded on three sides by the Nallamala and Palkonda Hills lying on the tectonic landscape between the Eastern and Western ghats. Black and Red ferrous soils occupy the region. The city is nicknamed "Gadapa" ('threshold') since it is the gateway from the west to the hills of Tirumala.

Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy, also known as Y. S. Jagan or mononymously Jagan, is an Indian politician serving as the 17th and current chief minister of Andhra Pradesh since 2019. He is also the founder and president of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He is the son of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He had served as the leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly between 2014 and 2019.

The Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party is an Indian regional political party based in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Its founder and president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy serves as the state's chief minister. Since the 2019 general election, the YSRCP has been the joint-fourth largest party in the Lok Sabha with 22 seats.
Kadapa Municipal Corporation (KMC) is the civic body that governs the city of Kadapa in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the oldest Municipalities of the state, constituted in the year 1868 and was upgraded to Corporation in 2004. Its jurisdiction encompasses an area of 164.08 km2. Established in the year 2004, the Executive power of the KMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The position is held by S. Lavanna. Kothamaddi Suresh Babu (YSRCP) was elected as the Mayor and Syed Mumthaj Begam (YSRCP), Bandi Nityananda Reddy (YSRCP) as the Deputy Mayor by the newly elected general body in March 2021.
Kadapa mandal is one of the 50 mandals in Kadapa district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is administered under Kadapa revenue division and its headquarters are located at Kadapa. The mandal is bounded by Chennur, Sidhout and Chinthakommadinne mandals.
