Gloria Alvarado Nava (born May 4, 1987) is a Mexican luchadora best known by the ring name Goya Kong for her time working for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). She is the third-generation Luchadora, part of the Alvarado wrestling family as she is the granddaughter of Shadito Cruz and the daughter of José Alvarado Nieves, who worked under the ring name Brazo de Plata. She has several brothers and a sister who are also active wrestlers along with a number of uncles and cousins.

Personal life

Gloria Alvarado Nava is a member of the extensive Alvarado family who have been associated with Mexican professional wrestling since her grandfather, Juan Alvarado Ibarra better known as Shadito Cruz began his wrestling career in 1931. [1] Six of Alvarado's sons became professional wrestlers as well, including Gloria Alvarado's father José Alvarado Nieves who is best known as Brazo de Plata ("Silver Arm") and her uncles Jesús (Brazo de Oro), Juan (El Brazo), José Aarón (Brazo Cibernético), Daniel (Brazo de Platino) and Martín Antonio (Super Brazo). A third-generation of Alvarado wrestlers began working from around 2000 going forward, including Gloria's brothers Jose Cristian Alvarado Ruiz (Máximo) and others whose real name has not been made public as they work under masks, but are known by ring names such as Psycho Clown as well as her sister who works under the ring name Danah / Muñeca de Plata. Her extended family includes professional wrestlers La Mascara, El Brazo, Jr. and Super Brazo, Jr. [1] [2] [3] There are a number of "storyline" members of the "Brazo" family, wrestlers who either paid for or was given the Junior names of the various second-generation wrestlers to use the Brazo Name, although some of those have later changed their ring names, such as Golden Magic who originally wrestled as Brazo Metallico. In 2012, Goya Kong participated in the French film "Queens of ring" (Les Reines du ring). The film was released on July 3, 2013, with WWE Superstars Cm Punk, The Miz, and former WWE Diva Eve Torres. Goya Kong appears with her mask.

Professional wrestling career

Gloria Alvarado Nava made her professional wrestling debut in late 2007, wearing a mask, working as a tecnica (someone who plays a "good guy" character) under the ring name Goya. She worked a couple of matches for Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA), the same promotion her father worked for at the time.

Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (2010–2015)

Brazo de Plata returned to CMLL in 2010 after having worked for other promotions for a number of years. In the months following his return Alvarado publicly talked about Goya, now renamed Goya Kong being his daughter, seeking opportunities for her to further her career. [4] Goya Kong made her CMLL debut on June 13, 2010, teaming with CMLL tecnicas Lady Apache and Marcela as the trio defeated La Amapola, La Comandante and Mima Shimoda [5] Over the next year or so Alvarado received further training from CMLL head trainer Hijo del Gladiador while also gaining in-ring experience. Through her CMLL contacts Goya Kong also worked for southern California based Lucha POP in late 2011. [6] In the summer of 2012 Goya Kong began to develop a rivalry with the masked Ruda La Seductora, a storyline many speculated may lead to a Luchas de Apuestas ("Bet Match") between the two where both would risk their masks on the outcome of the match. [7] When the match was finally announced it did not just include the two women risking their masks, but an additional eight women who would all risk their hair on the outcome of the annual Infierno en el Ring steel cage match. Besides Goya Kong and La Seductora the match included La Amapola, Dalys la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Estrellita, Lady Apache, Marcela, Princesa Blanca and Tiffany. [8] The match came down to Goya Kong and Princesa Blanca as everyone else had escaped the cage. In the end Princesa Blanca pinned Goya Kong, forcing her to unmask in the middle of the ring. [9] Following the loss Goya Kong stated that while it was a set-back to her young career the mask loss would not stop her. [10] On April 7, 2013, Goya Kong outlasted Marcela, Estrellita, Dalys La Caribeña, Silueta, La Amapola, Princesa Sugey, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis, Tiffany to win the Trofeo Arena Coliseo 70 Aniversario, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Arena Coliseo. On June 28, 2015, Kong made a surprise jump to AAA, being introduced by her brother Psycho Clown. [12]

Previous year's Infierno en el Ring events have been held on Fridays, replacing CMLL's regularly scheduled Super Viernes show, but in 2010 the event was held on Sunday night instead. The 2010 Infierno en el Ring is the third show under that name and the 13th time CMLL have promoted an Infierno en el Ring cage match.

Xóchitl Leyva Sánchez is a Mexican luchadora, or female professional wrestler best known under the ring name Tiffany. After working for AAA for the majority of her career, she jumped to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in September 2010.

<i>Infierno en el Ring</i> (2012) Mexican professional wrestling show

Infierno en el Ring (2012) was an annual professional wrestling major event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), which took place on June 29, 2012 in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico. The 2012 Infierno en el Ring replaced CMLL's regularly scheduled Friday night Super Viernes show. The 2012 Infierno en el Ring was the fourth show under that name, the 14th time CMLL have promoted an Infierno en el Ring cage match and the first time it featured women competing in the main event. The main event of the show was the eponymous Infierno en el Ring match that CMLL traditionally has traditionally held approximately once a year and which has headlined its own specific show since 2008. The Infierno en el Ring match is a multi-person Steel Cage match contested under Lucha de Apuestas, or bet match, rules which means that the loser of the match would be forced to unmask or have their hair shaved off per Lucha Libre traditions. At the 2012 event 10 women participated, risking either their mask, or their hair.

Estrellita is the ring name of Bibiana Ochoa Barradas, a Mexican luchadora, or female professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) portraying a tecnico wrestling character. Estrellita worked for AAA for over 10 years.

In June 2012 the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) held four CMLL Super Viernes shows, all of which took place in Arena México on Friday nights. On Friday June 29, CMLL held their annual Infierno el en Ring super show, replacing the regular Super Viernes show. Some of the matches from Super Viernes were taped for CMLL's weekly shows that aired in Mexico the week following the Super Viernes show. The shows featured various professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines. Wrestlers portray either heels or faces as they follow a series of tension-building events, which culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Being a professional wrestling event matches are not won legitimately; they are instead won via predetermined outcomes to the matches that is kept secret from the general public.

The Alvarado wrestling family, also referred to as La Dinastia Alvarado in Spanish, is a Mexico City based family of professional wrestlers. The family works primarily in Mexico but have made appearances in the United States of America, Canada, Europe, and Japan over the years. The Patriarch of the family was Juan Alvarado Ibarra, who wrestled under the ring name Shadito Cruz, followed by his six sons who all used ring name variations of "Brazo" and included wrestlers Brazo de Oro, El Brazo, Brazo de Plata, Brazo Cibernético, Brazo de Platino and Super Brazo. A third-generation of Alvardos made their debut around the turn of the millennium, originally all working under "Brazo" related ring names but later most changed their names to create an identity for themselves. Due to the traditions and secrecy of Lucha Libre some wrestlers who use the "Brazo" ring name are not blood relatives of the Alvarado family and others is unconfirmed if they are truly part of the Alvarado family or not. Dalys la Caribeña is a Panamanian luchadora, or female professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Her name appears in print as Dalys la Caribeña, Dalys, Dallys and Dalis but all refer to the same person. Her name means Daly "The Caribbean Girl". She is a second-generation wrestler, her father is a retired wrestler turned wrestling promoter in Panama, her brother wrestles in Mexico under the ring name Veneno and she is related through marriage to Negro Casas to the extended Casas wrestling family.

Robin is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler, who works for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and portrays a tecnico wrestling character. Robin's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. He is a part of the extensive Alvarado wrestling family, the son of José Aarón Alvarado Nieves who wrestled as "Brazo Cibernético" and "Robin Hood", and grandson of Juan Alvarado Ibarra, better known as Shadito Cruz.
