Grace Murray (born May 26, 1989) is an Irish international footballer who plays for Shelbourne Ladies of the Women's National League (WNL). She made her debut for the Republic of Ireland women's national football team in February 2008.

Club career

After coming through the youth ranks at Dundalk City, [2] Murray represented her hometown club in the 2004 and 2005 FAI Women's Cup finals at Lansdowne Road. In 2004 Dundalk lost 4–1 to UCD. A report in The Irish Times newspaper praised her "great assurance" in Dundalk's 1–0 win over Peamount United in 2005. [3] Murray transferred to St Francis and in August 2010 scored the club's first ever goal in European competition, in a 4–1 win over Portuguese champions 1º Dezembro. [4]

Murray joined Peamount United before the Women's National League (WNL) was formed in 2011 and represented the club in the competition's first season. [5] She had already featured in The Peas' 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League campaign, which ended with a defeat by Paris Saint-Germain. [6]

After dislocating her elbow three minutes into the 2012–13 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round in Bosnia, Murray was ruled out for six months. She spent time in Canada, then played in the summer season with Northern Irish club Newry City. [7]

Murray helped Newry City reach the 2014 IFA Women's Challenge Cup final, at Clandeboye Park in Bangor, where they were beaten 10–9 on penalties by Linfield after a 2–2 draw. [8] In 2015, she was part of the Newry City team which won the Women's Premier League, with a dramatic last-minute winner over Mid-Ulster Ladies. [9]

For the 2015–16 season, Murray returned to the Women's National League with Dublin-based club Shelbourne Ladies. [10]

International career

Murray made her debut for the Republic of Ireland U-19 team in August 2005, in a 3–2 friendly win over Finland U-19s at Richmond Park, Inchicore. [11] On her competitive debut in October 2005, she scored a "spectacular" free-kick in a 7–0 win over Estonia U-19s at the A. Le Coq Arena. [12]

In March 2006, Murray was called up to the senior national team for the first time, for the 2006 Algarve Cup. [13] Murray won a debut cap in February 2008, as a late substitute in Ireland's 4–1 friendly win over Poland at John Hyland Park, Baldonnel. [14]

Duggan was included in a scholarship programme for current or potential senior national team players in December 2011. [15] While attending Dundalk Institute of Technology, Murray represented Irish Universities at the World University Games, playing in the 2009 tournament in Belgrade [16] and the 2013 edition in Kazan. [17]

As well as being a medical doctor, Gorman is an all-round sportswoman. She has also represented the Ireland women's national field hockey team at various levels and has played senior inter-county ladies' Gaelic football for the Galway county team.

UCD Women's Soccer Club is an Irish association football club based in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. It is the women's association football team of University College Dublin. Founded in 1966, UCD are one of the oldest women's football clubs in the Republic of Ireland. Like the UCD men's team, the women's football team has competed in national competitions, such as the FAI Women's Cup and the Women's National League, as well as intervarsity competitions. UCD has also represented the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Women's Cup. Between 2014 and 2018, following a merger, with DLR Waves, the club played in the Women's National League and FAI Women's Cup as UCD Waves. However in 2018 UCD withdrew from the WNL. DLR Waves was subsequently revived as a separate club, taking UCD Waves' place in the WNL.

The Dublin Women's Soccer League was a women's association football league featuring teams from the Republic of Ireland. While the majority of the participating clubs were based in the Greater Dublin Area, the DWSL had regularly included teams from outside this area. Whilst previously the DWSL was one of the largest women's leagues in Ireland it had been overtaken by the Wexford, MGL and Cork Leagues. In late 2019, the FAI following discussions revamped Women's Football in the Greater Dublin area and the Eastern Women's Football League (EWFL) chaired by the MGL's Tony Gains were granted the only license to run women's adult football in the Dublin area. The EWFL is run by committees of the MGL and the former DWSL.

Wexford Youths Women Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Crossabeg, County Wexford. Their senior team plays in the Women's National League. In recent seasons Wexford Youths have emerged as one of the league's strongest teams.

The 2011–12 Women's National League season was the inaugural season of the Women's National League. The season was sponsored by Bus Éireann. Originally seven clubs were invited to join the league. However shortly before the start of the season Bray Wanderers/St. Joseph's pulled out due to a lack of competitive players. This left six teams – Peamount United, Castlebar Celtic, Cork Women's F.C., Raheny United, Shamrock Rovers and Wexford Youths – to play the inaugural season.

The 2015–16 Women's National League was the fifth season of the Women's National League. Two new clubs joined the league before the start of the season, restoring the number of teams in the league to eight. Kilkenny United were formed as expansion team while Raheny United's senior women's team merged with Shelbourne Ladies. This effectively saw Shelbourne Ladies takeover Raheny United's place in the WNL. The season also saw the introduction of the WNL Shield. Wexford Youths and Shelbourne Ladies finished the season as the league's two strongest teams. In the league itself, the two teams finished level on points before Wexford Youths retained the title after a play-off. Wexford Youths also completed a treble, having already won both the FAI Women's Cup and WNL Shield. Shelbourne Ladies were also runners up in the WNL Shield before going onto win the WNL Cup. Before the season was finished Castlebar Celtic withdrew because they were unable to field a team.

Karen Duggan is an Irish footballer who plays for Peamount United of the Women's National League (WNL). She has previously played for UCD Waves and the Republic of Ireland women's national football team. Between 2013 and 2016 Duggan was selected for the WNL Team of the Season for four successive seasons. She was the only player selected all four seasons. In 2015–16 she was also WNL Senior Player of the Season. Duggan has also played camogie at club, university and county level.

Siobhán Killeen is a Republic of Ireland women's international footballer. She has also played for UCD, Raheny United and Shelbourne Ladies. In 2010, she was a member of the Republic of Ireland U-17 squad that were runners-up in the 2010 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship and quarter-finalists in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Killeen has also played senior ladies' Gaelic football for Dublin.

Dundalk City Ladies Football Club was an Irish association football club based in Dundalk, County Louth. During the early 2000s they were the "sister club" of Dundalk F.C. However, after winning the 2005 FAI Women's Cup and qualifying for the 2006–07 UEFA Women's Cup, the club split into two separate teams. Dundalk City was re-established as an independent club while Dundalk W.F.C. became affiliated to the League of Ireland club and went on to compete in the UEFA Women's Cup.

Noelle Murray is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Irish club Shelbourne and the Republic of Ireland national team. Between 2011 and 2016 Murray played in six successive FAI Women's Cup finals with three clubs - St Catherine's, Raheny United and Shelbourne Ladies.

In addition to association football, Rowe has also played two other football codes at a senior level. She has played ladies' Gaelic football for Mayo and women's Australian rules football for Collingwood in the AFLW. At club level, Rowe has also played association football for Castlebar Celtic, Raheny United and Shelbourne in the Women's National League and for Melbourne Victory in the A-League Women. Rowe was a member of the Republic of Ireland U19 team that won their group at the 2014 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship and qualified for the semi-finals. In 2016, she was also a member of the Shelbourne Ladies team that won a Women's National League/FAI Women's Cup double.

Dearbháile Beirne is an Irish dual code footballer from Mohill in County Leitrim. In soccer she plays for Peamount United of the Women's National League (WNL) and has represented the Republic of Ireland women's national football team at youth and senior level. She has also played Ladies' Gaelic football for Leitrim GAA, competing in the Ladies' National Football League and All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies' Football Championship.

Kylie Murphy is an Irish footballer who plays for Wexford Youths of the Women's National League (WNL). Predominantly a midfielder, she was successfully repurposed as a forward in 2021.

Abbie Larkin is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Shamrock Rovers and the Republic of Ireland women's national team.
