Marisa Brown of AllMusic gave the album 3.5 stars out of 5, praising the RJD2-produced tracks ("Never Come Back", "Angelina Valintina", and "Impact"). [1] She said, "[RJD2 is] really quite talented in his ability to make a diverse set of beats while still sounding like himself, and all three tracks included here continue to prove that." [1] Meanwhile, Steve Juon of RapReviews.com gave the album an 8 out of 10, saying, "Two of the most entertaining tracks may be the live recording of Aceyalone performing 'Makebalillia,' which has an unexpected Michael Jackson twist, and the heavy pounding UK Remix of 'Doin' My Job' produced by The Functionist." Ramble Jon Krohn, better known by his stage name RJD2, is an American musician and record producer based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the owner of record label RJ's Electrical Connections. He has been a member of groups such as Soul Position, MHz Legacy, and Icebird. His stage name derives from the popular Star Wars droid R2-D2.
The Platform is the debut studio album by American hip hop trio Dilated Peoples. It was released on May 23, 2000, through Capitol Records. Recording sessions took place at Audio X in Burbank, D&D Studios in New York, Can Am Studios in Tarzana and Threshold Studios in Santa Monica. Production was handled by members Evidence and DJ Babu, as well as Alchemist, Joey Chavez, E-Swift, KutMasta Kurt and T-Ray. Edwin Maximilian "Eddie" Hayes, Jr., better known by his stage name Aceyalone, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California, United States. He is a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Haiku D'Etat and The A-Team. He is also a co-founder of Project Blowed. Aceyalone is best known for his role in evolving left-field hip-hop on the West Coast at a time when the West Coast was dominated by gangsta rap.
