Edson is a town in west-central Alberta, Canada. It is located in Yellowhead County, 192 kilometres (119 mi) west of Edmonton along the Yellowhead Highway and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the intersection with Highway 47.

Alberta Provincial Highway No. 16, commonly referred to as Highway 16, is a major east–west highway in central Alberta, Canada, connecting Jasper to Lloydminster via Edmonton. It forms a portion of the Yellowhead Highway, a major interprovincial route of the Trans-Canada Highway system that stretches from Masset, British Columbia, to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, near Winnipeg. Highway 16 spans approximately 634 km (394 mi) from Alberta's border with British Columbia in the west to its border with Saskatchewan in the east. As of 2010, all but less than 96 km (60 mi) of the route was divided, with a minimum of two lanes in each direction. It is designated a core route in Canada's National Highway System.

Grande Cache is a hamlet in west-central Alberta, Canada within and administered by the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16. It is located on Highway 40 approximately 145 kilometres (90 mi) northwest of Hinton and 435 kilometres (270 mi) west of Edmonton. Grande Cache overlooks the Smoky River, is at the northern edge of Alberta's Rockies, and serves as the gateway to the Willmore Wilderness Park. The hamlet held town status prior to 2019.
Niton Junction is a hamlet in west-central Alberta, Canada within Yellowhead County. It is located on the Yellowhead Highway approximately 45 kilometres (28 mi) east of Edson and 150 kilometres (93 mi) west of Edmonton. It is east of the Yellowhead Highway's junction with Highway 32 and west of Chip Lake. Niton Junction has an elevation of 845 metres (2,772 ft).

Parkland Composite High School (PCHS) is a public high school located in Edson, Alberta, Canada. Parkland Composite High School offers various courses for grades 9 through 12 and is part of the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division No. 77. The school is also home to a French immersion program that provides grade 9 math and science courses in French and also has French Language Arts classes available for grades 9 through 12.
CFXE-FM is a Canadian radio station licensed to Edson, Alberta. Owned by Stingray Group, it broadcasts a country format branded as Real Country. Alongside its main signal in Edson, the station maintains three rebroadcasters in northwestern Alberta; CFXH-FM in Hinton, CFXP-FM in Jasper, and CFXG-FM in Grande Cache. The station also maintains a satellite studio in Hinton, and broadcasts their afternoon show from Hinton.
Municipal elections were held in Alberta, Canada on Monday, October 18, 2010. Since 1968, provincial legislation has required every municipality to hold triennial elections. Mayors (reeves), councillors (aldermen), and trustees were elected to office in 16 of the 17 cities, all 108 towns, all 95 villages, all 5 specialized municipalities, all 64 municipal districts, 3 of the 7 improvement districts, and the advisory councils of the 3 special areas. The City of Lloydminster is on the Saskatchewan schedule, and held elections on October 28, 2009 and October 24, 2012, while 4 improvement districts have no councils and are led solely by the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Since the 2007 municipal elections, the villages of Derwent, Kinuso, New Sarepta, and Thorhild were dissolved, the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass changed from town to specialized municipality status, and the Town of Lacombe became a city.
Lloydminster Catholic School Division (LCSD) or Lloydminster R.C.S.S.D. No. 89 is a Catholic school division serving approximately 2,800 students in Lloydminster, SK/AB and surrounding area. Lloydminster Catholic School Division operates four elementary schools for grades K-7, one high school for grades 8-12 and one early childhood education center. It is currently the city's sole provider of single-track French Immersion education from grades K-12 through École St. Thomas Elementary School and Holy Rosary High School.
