Grandmother's Spaceship the third a studio album by pioneer Christian punk band Scaterd Few. Lyrically the album is themed, referencing "aliens, the cyber-age and other extra-terrestrial things," [3] while staying centered on the ultimate truth of renewed life in Christ. Several lyrics draw their themes directly from scripture. [7] Musically it is more diverse than most punk albums, encompassing reggae, aggressive punk, funk, and a "slight Gothic overtone" [4] similar to Allan's alternate band, Spy Glass Blue. [6] While at least one critic thought the album "failed to capture the essence" that Sin Disease displayed, [8] most reviews were positive. The album was written over two years and recorded in three weeks. [2]
Lyrically, the album paints a cohesive picture of mankind in a technological society. According to Allan because man is separated from God and so has lost his true identity. [2] In this unnatural state mankind tends toward pagan activities, destroying himself through his vices, in an attempt to find his true identity. This condition is exacerbated by the conditions of the 21st century - a world of information overload where "Major Tom is now an info monk." [2] Humans are said to be a "Species filled with anti-matter." [2] Perhaps the clearest expression of this idea is in "Bobby's Song," which tells the story of a family preparing to leave Earth by way of alien abduction. [9] The story is similar to that of the Heaven's Gate cult; [7] one reviewer describes this as "the story of humankind's misplaced yearning for extraordinary salvation from all sources other than the Universal King." [5]
The album's answer is that Christ can restore man to his natural state of communion with God. Allan speaks directly to the world in pleading "Wake up, sleeper!" (echoing Ephesians 5:14, on "Lullaby") and drawing from Mark 1:17 in "Win The Fisher" ("If you follow me, I'll make you fisher's of men.") [7] In Christ Agiurre offers "Death! Where is your sting?!" [2] (from, "Incorruptible", 1 Corinthians 15:55 [7] ) as a triumphant victory cry over the corruption world. [5]
Grandmother's space theme has been interpreted in two related ways: that believers are "not of this world," [4] [9] and that the world increasingly alienates believers as unwelcome. [7] In this vein "As The Story Grows V.2" is a continuation of the theme set forth on "As The Story Grows" ( Sin Disease ), and "Space Junk" is most exploratory. These songs restate both questions posed to believers by the outside world (such as "How can you believe in a God that would let small children suffer?" [7] ), and the world's angry reply back to Christians ("We love the smell of hell / How dare you try to tell us that / He died to set us free / ...Take your cross and let us be".) [7]
The album also contains elements of praise and worship music, albeit in a punk fashion, which was, according to Aguirre, "a very conscious decision." [9] The best of these are probably "Splendor" and "Arbitrator", [6] which draws from Psalm 139, and was remade by Spy Glass Blue on their 2003 release The Blue EP .

So Far from Home is the first installment in a space-themed trilogy released by Christian rock band Brave Saint Saturn. This release contains less elements of the trilogy's plot that was developed in the two subsequent albums, opting for a more general feeling of darkness and loneliness. It was released in 2000.

The W's were a Christian ska and swing revival band, formed in Corvallis, Oregon in 1996. Success came quickly to the band and their first album, Fourth from the Last, was a sleeper hit, unexpectedly having had the strongest debut of any Christian album to date for its distributor. They toured the United States several times with a variety of artists. Touring highlights include Pope John Paul II's 1999 visit to St. Louis and dc Talk's Supernatural support tour.
Project 86 is the debut album of the American band Project 86. It was released on June 16, 1998 on BEC Recordings, the Christian imprint of Tooth & Nail Records. This album established Project 86 as one of the more promising hardcore/metal groups in the Christian music scene. According to one critic, Project 86 became "one of the few Christian acts to gain exposure to the general market" by the turn of the millennium. The album sold over 30,000 copies before the release of the band's second album in the year 2000.
Scaterd Few was a Christian punk band originating from Burbank, California. CCM magazine described their music as "pure punk for dread people," stating that it was a cross between Janes Addiction and Charlie Mingus.
Omega No. 5 is the latest material by the punk band Scaterd Few. It was released in 2002 on Allan's own label, Accidental Sirens. Unlike on their 1998 release the band returns to its original punk stylings, mirroring Sin Disease in both aureal intensity and lyrical depth. Forming the band on this release are Allan Aguirre and Greyskull members Brad Bevill and Chris Smyers.
Spy Glass Blue is an American post-punk/new wave/Britpop band formed by Allan Aguirre of Scaterd Few, is credited for legitimizing and authenticating the post-punk genre in Christian alternative music (ACM) much in the same way that Scaterd Few defined punk rock in Contemporary Christian music (CCM). In the words of the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music, Spy Glass Blue is a "rare example of Christian goth music." As Allan's solo effort shows Allan's artier side where Scaterd Few showed his edgier side. Aguirre likens the band's presence to the restructuring of other Christian Alternative bands: Mortal to Fold Zandura or the Crucified to Stavesacre.
Loud As Feathers is Spy Glass Blue's second full-length studio album. Its sound leans toward a "space rock vibe" with David Bowieesque vocals. HM editor Doug Van Pelt lists the standout tracks as "Light Machine" and "Ophelia".
DigHayZoose was a Christian funk and modern rock band from Kansas City, Missouri. The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music describes them as "One of the first Christian alternative rock bands of the 1990s". Their name, when spoken, is audibly similar to saying "Dig Jesus" in Spanish.
Squad Five-O is an American punk rock band from Savannah, Georgia no longer formally touring or recording, but rather only performing occasional weekend concerts. Like their initial ska-punk stylings, their name was derived from a cross between the television shows Hawaii Five-O and The Mod Squad. Between 1997 and 2006 the band grew lyrically and in popularity, and also shifted its style significantly. Over the course of their career they moved from a small indie Christian label to the major label Capitol Records and released five albums in the process.
Mortal was a Christian industrial/dance band fronted by Jerome Fontamillas and Jyro Xhan. Both members went on to found the alternative rock group Fold Zandura, and for a time were members of both bands simultaneously. The band is known for its lyrical intelligence, incorporating advanced theology with what has been billed as "Industrial Praise and Worship." According to CCM Magazine "Mortal has had a much greater influence... on industrial music than its modest output would suggest."
Officer Negative was a Christian punk band from Ventura. Formed in 1995 and initially disbanded in 2000, the band released two albums and an EP on Screaming Giant Records. They played old-school punk, and though their music never appeared in a polished form, it was said to "never hold back the passion." Following a period of reformation they reappeared as The Death Campaign and toured until 2004.
Massivivid was a Christian band founded by Wally Shaw and Mark Nash. Their sound was based in industrial rock and electronic pop, but with a hard edge and intensity similar to that of Nine Inch Nails or The Smashing Pumpkins. Massivivid was founded as a live side project to Deitiphobia. They released BrightBlur to critical acclaim, garnering a Dove Award.
Morella's Forest was a band from Dayton, Ohio which formed in 1992. They released three albums on Tooth and Nail Records and one with an independent label. Their signature sound is noise pop or space music comparable to Starflyer 59 or the Breeders.
Left Out was a Chicago, Illinois Christian punk supergroup that was active from 1995-2002.
KMGRecords was a Christian record label. The label was established in 1997 by Buddy Killen as a subunit of the Killen Music Group / Buddy Killen Enterprises and sold in late 1998 to Cal Turner III, who is related to the Cal Turner of Dollar General stores. Following the sale, Buddy Killen continued to consult for the firm.
Rod Laver was a Christian rapcore group that originated from Los Angeles. Their sound was similar to Korn, Limp Bizkit, or Kid Rock, but as the personnel lineup changed the group wavered from a rock-grounded sound to hip hop, and then back again.
Christian ska is a form of Christian alternative rock, and subgenre of ska and ska punk which is lyrically oriented toward contemporary Christian music. Though ska did not constitute a genre within the Christian music industry until after third wave ska had peaked in the general market, Christian ska continued to thrive independently into the early 2000s.
The Miscellaneous was a 1990s alternate rock band composed of members from Europe and the United States. The band was fronted by a male and a female vocalist, and produced music that is said to "transcend the boundaries" of its genre in creativity. CCM magazine likened their music to that of Sixpence None the Richer, Jars of Clay and Out of the Grey.
Every Day Life, later simply known as EDL, was a Christian rapcore group. The band became identified with the straight edge movement, which advocates abstinence from sex, drugs and tobacco.
