The great Oulu fire of 1705 was a conflagration that destroyed the parts of the city of Oulu, Finland. It consists of two fires in total, the first of which occurred on 20 July 1705, and the second on 28 August of the same year. A total of 144 houses and 121 granaries from the third and fourth districts of the city burned down in the fires. [1]
The July fire was the largest of these. The fire started in Knuutti Juhonpoika's kitchen, where the maid Valpuri Pietarintytär was preparing liquor mash. Aided by the strong wind, the fire spread quickly in the then IV district, and practically the entire district burned to the ground. [1] [2] The fire in August started when the fire escaped from the shed of Tuomas Jakku's house. The fire destroyed 39 of the houses that were saved from the previous fire, and in addition most of the granaries in the Hahtiperä area also burned. [1]
The area of the city was reduced by moving the customs fence towards the city center. Those whose estates were outside the customs fence were given estates in the center of the city. It was decided to leave free space between Hahtiperä's waterfront sheds and the town's houses. [1]
Oulu Castle was a late defense castle in Oulu, Finland. It was built on an island in the delta of Oulu River in 1590. The castle was mostly made of wood and earth walls. There probably was an earlier medieval castle on the same site latest by 1375. The Russian Sophia Chronicle has recorded that men from Novgorod tried to conquer a new castle in the Oulu River delta in 1377 but were unsuccessful.

The great Oulu fire of 1882 was a conflagration that started in the basement of the pharmacy on the corner of Kirkkokatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu on the evening of 2 November, destroying 27 buildings along Hallituskatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu in downtown Oulu, Finland, amongst them the city-owned Seurahuone. The basement was used to store gasoline and other flammable materials, which led to the fire quickly raging out of control. It headed towards the Oulu River and destroyed the salt and grain warehouses along its shoreline. The fire brigade, however, managed to keep the fire from spreading to the packhouse.

Martinniemi is located in north of the river delta of the Kiiminkijoki river. The Hupisaaret Islands City Park is a public urban park in the Myllytulli district in central Oulu, Finland. The park is located in the delta of the River Oulu. The area was built as a public park in the 1860s, the first white wooden bridges that characterize the park were also built at the time.

The Oulu Bus Station is a bus station in the city center of Oulu, Finland, located in the Vaara district near the Raksila district. From the bus station there is a pedestrian connection via the railway underpass tunnel to Oulu railway station and the station pier. There is no longer a ticket office and the Matkahuolto service in the station building, but there is still a café in the building.
Tervasaari, meaning "tar island", is an island in Helsinki, Finland, in front of the district of Kruununhaka. Tervasaari is connected to the mainland by a long causeway called Tervasaarenkannas. The causeway is connected to the Pohjoisranta street on the eastern edge of the city centre.
