The Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition (GVCC) was a cycling advocacy group based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In 2021 the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition merged with the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society to form 'Capital Bike'. [1]
Originally founded in 1991, the GVCC was one of Canada's oldest cycling advocacy organizations. The GVCC was a volunteer organization dedicated to improving cycling in Victoria, BC, and increasing ridership through advocacy, participation, and education.
The GVCC's focuses included cycling advocacy, publication of Cycle Therapy, a quarterly magazine, Bike Sense, the cycling safety manual for British Columbia, weekly recreational rides, themed rides including the annual Architectural Bike Tour in conjunction with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia, production of cycling maps and on special events, such as 2009's Velo Victoria. The GVCC hosted several international transportation symposia in its history, including the National Center for Bicycling an Walking's Pro Walk/Pro Bike conference in 2004, the Streets Are For People conference in 1998, and the Traffic Calming Conference in 1995.
The GVCC was instrumental in the development of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, having organized the first cleanup of what would become the trail. GVCC members provided input to the development of the E&N Railway Trail and the Capital Regional District's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.

The Island Rail Corridor, previously the Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway, is a dormant railway operation on Vancouver Island and is the only remaining railway there after the closure of the Englewood Railway in November 2017. The Island Corridor Foundation owns the former Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway corridor. The railway line is 225 kilometres (140 mi) in length from Victoria to Courtenay, known as the Victoria Subdivision, with a branch line from Parksville to Port Alberni known as the Port Alberni Subdivision at 64 kilometres (40 mi) in length, for a total 289 kilometres (180 mi) of mainline track. In 2006, the Island Corridor Foundation acquired the railway's ownership from the Canadian Pacific Railway.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association-Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (IMBA-SORBA) is an advocacy organization for mountain biking in the Southeastern United States. IMBA-SORBA is a regional division of International Mountain Bicycling Association, managed by an executive director and a board of directors. The board of directors is composed of an elected executive board, plus one representative from each chapter. The organization has over 5000 members.

The city has plans to expand the current 285 miles (459 km) of bike lanes to 400 miles (640 km), and the current 60 miles (97 km) of trails to 100 miles (160 km). San Jose was ranked as a bronze-level bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists.
