Background

The album documents the 1983 concert tour that accompanied the second, and last, reunion attempt of the original group.

While approximately two-thirds of the tour's shows were taken from Ark , the 1983 reunion album, and one-third were drawn from the line-up's original 1960s recordings, Greatest Hits Live focuses almost exclusively on the older material.

The Animals were an English rhythm and blues and rock band, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. The band moved to London upon finding fame in 1964. The Animals were known for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced frontman Eric Burdon, as exemplified by their signature song and transatlantic number-one hit single, "The House of the Rising Sun", as well as by hits such as "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "I'm Crying", "See See Rider", and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". Eric Burdon English singer-songwriter

Eric Victor Burdon is an English singer-songwriter and actor. He was previously the vocalist of rock band The Animals and funk band War. John Steel (drummer)

John Steel is an English musician well known for being the drummer for The Animals. Having served as the band's drummer at its inception in 1963, he is the only original bandmember playing in the current incarnation of The Animals.
