Test Cricket is a format of the sport of cricket,considered the game’s most prestigious and traditional form. Often referred to as the "ultimate test" of a cricketer's skill,endurance,and temperament,it is a format of international cricket where two teams in white clothing,each representing a country,compete over a match that can last up to five days. It consists of four innings,maximum of ninety overs are scheduled to be bowled per day making it the sport with the longest playing time. A team wins the match by outscoring the opposition in the batting or bowl out in bowling,otherwise the match ends in a draw.
Rahul Sharad Dravid is a former cricket player,ex-captain and ex-coach of the Indian national cricket team. Known for his outstanding batting technique,Dravid scored 24,177 runs in international cricket and is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He is colloquially known as Mr. Dependable and often referred to as The Wall. He won the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy as a member of the Indian team and guided the Indian team to victory in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup as the head coach.
The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Nicknamed the Black Caps,they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch,becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. From 1930 New Zealand had to wait until 1956,more than 26 years,for its first Test victory,against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972–73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch. New Zealand are the inaugural champions of WTC which they won in 2021 and they have also won ICC CT in 2000. They have played in the CWC final twice and the T20 WC final once.
Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards is a retired Antiguan cricketer who represented the West Indies cricket team between 1974 and 1991. Usually batting at number three in a dominant West Indies side,Richards is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Richards was part of the squads which won the 1975 Cricket World Cup and 1979 Cricket World Cup and finished as runners up in the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
The Pakistan national cricket team has represented Pakistan in international cricket since 1952. It is controlled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB),the governing body for cricket in Pakistan,which is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistan compete in cricket tours and tournaments sanctioned by the PCB and other regional or international cricket bodies in Test,One Day International (ODI),and Twenty20 International (T20) formats. Ajit Bhalchandra Agarkar is a former Indian cricketer and a commentator. He is the current chairman of the BCCI selection committee since July 4,2023. He has represented India in more than 200 international matches across all three formats of the game. He is the third highest wicket-taker for India in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He was the part of the Indian squads which won the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2007 T20 World Cup and finished as runners up at the 2003 Cricket World Cup and the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy. He was the Chairman of Selection Committee for 2024 T20 World Cup winning Indian team.
Michael John Clarke is an Australian former cricketer. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) between 2011 and 2015,leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also served as captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) side between 2007 and 2010. With his time representing Australia,Clarke won multiple ICC titles with the team:the 2007 Cricket World Cup,the 2015 Cricket World Cup which he was the winning captain,and the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.
James Michael Anderson,also known as Jimmy Anderson is an English cricketer who played for England. He is currently serving as the fast bowling mentor of the England cricket team. Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the sport,he holds the record for the most wickets taken by a fast bowler in Test cricket. Anderson was a member of the England team that won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2010. In February 2023,he became the oldest player to top the ICC men's Test bowling rankings. and is one of the few fast bowlers to play at Test match level into his forties.
Sanjay Vijay Manjrekar is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer. He played international cricket for India from 1987 until 1996 as a right-handed middle order batsman. He was a part of the Indian squads which won the 1990-91 Asia Cup and 1995 Asia Cup.
Pahlan Ratanji "Polly" Umrigar was an Indian cricketer. He played in the Indian cricket team and played first-class cricket for Bombay and Gujarat. Umrigar played mainly as a middle-order batsman but also bowled occasional medium pace and off spin. He captained India in eight Test matches from 1955 to 1958. When he retired in 1962,he had played in the most Tests (59),scored the most Test runs (3,631),and recorded the most Test centuries (12) of any Indian player. He scored the first double century by an Indian in Test cricket against New Zealand in Hyderabad. In 1998,he received the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award,the highest honour the Indian cricket board can bestow on a former player.
Vijay Laxman Manjrekar was an Indian cricketer who played 55 Tests. He represented several teams in his first-class career. A small man,he was a fine cutter and hooker of the ball. He is the father of Sanjay Manjrekar.
Brendon Barrie McCullum is a former New Zealand cricketer,and the current head coach of the England men's Test and limited-overs cricket sides. Representing New Zealand,he captained the team in all formats. McCullum was renowned for his quick scoring,notably setting a record for the fastest Test century. He is considered one of New Zealand's most successful batsmen and captained the side to the finals of the 2015 Cricket World Cup and 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
Douglas Anthony Marillier,known as Dougie Marillier,is a former Zimbabwean cricketer,who played Test and One Day International cricket for the national side.
Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja is an Indian international cricketer who represents the Indian national cricket team in ODI and Test formats. He is an all-rounder,who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm orthodox spin. He is regarded as one of the best all-rounders of his generation,becoming the fifth Indian and fifth-fastest player to score 2,000 runs and take 200 wickets in Test cricket in 2021. Jadeja was the leading wicket-taker in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and received the man of the match award as a member of the final-winning team. Later in his career,he was also a part of the team which won the 2024 T20 World Cup,after which he announced his retirement from the T20Is. He represents Saurashtra in first-class cricket and has captained the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. As of August 2023,Ravindra Jadeja is the 7th highest ODI wicket taker for India with 220 wickets.
The 2002 ICC Champions Trophy was a cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka in 2002. It marked the third edition of the ICC Champions Trophy,with the previous two tournaments being known as the ICC Knock Out Tournaments. Originally scheduled to be held in India,the tournament was moved to Sri Lanka when India did not grant an exemption from tax,as needed. The tournament consisted of fifteen matches,including two semi-finals and a final match. This event was notable as it marked the first time that teams from all member nations of the International Cricket Council (ICC) visited Sri Lanka to participate in a cricket tournament.
Ishant Sharma is an Indian cricketer who has represented India in Tests,ODIs and T20Is. He is a 6 ft 4 in tall right-arm fast-medium bowler. At the age of 18,Sharma was called to join the Indian squad for the tour of South Africa in 2006–07. However,after receiving the call and organising travel arrangements,he was deselected. In reference to his height and lean physique in his Under-19 days,the bowler was nicknamed Lambu. In 2011,he became the fifth youngest player to take 100 Test wickets. Against South Africa in 2013,Ishant Sharma became the fifth quickest Indian to record 100 ODI wickets. While being a "rhythm" bowler,he still is considered one of the fastest Indian bowlers having bowled in excess of 150 km/h on several occasions in international cricket as well as the IPL,his fastest being 152.2 km/h bowled to Ricky Ponting on Boxing Day Test in 2011. In 2020,Indian government has awarded him the Arjuna Award to recognize his outstanding achievement in cricket. Sharma was a member of the Indian team that won the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
The Indian cricket team toured England in the 1996 cricket season. They played a total of eighteen matches,including three Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) against England. In the Tests and ODIs,India were captained by Mohammad Azharuddin,while Michael Atherton captained England.
The India national cricket team toured New Zealand from 10 March to 2 April 1994,playing only one Test match,which was drawn. In addition to it,the team played two first-class games and four ODIs. India's 24-day tour began with two first-class fixtures,against New Zealand Emerging Players XI and New Zealand Academy,both of which ended in draws. The one-off Test and the ODI series that followed also ended in draws,the latter seeing India win two matches and New Zealand two.
The Indian cricket team toured Zimbabwe between 15 and 25 October 1992. The series was played as a prelude for India's tour of South Africa,and included just one Test match and one One Day International (ODI).
Mustafizur Rahman is a Bangladeshi international cricketer. A left-arm medium fast bowler,he is recognized for his most prolific 'slower cutters' all over the world. Born on 6 September 1995,in Satkhira,Bangladesh,Mustafizur Rahman's career took off during the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League when he caught the attention of cricket pundits with his ability to bowl accurate cutters and slower deliveries,earning him the nickname "The Fizz." This talent quickly propelled him to international prominence. He plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL and is a left-arm fast-medium bowler.
