The Greifenseelauf is an annual road running event in the Swiss Canton of Zurich, that was established in 1980 and takes place in the middle of September.

Contents

From 1980 to 1985 the course ran over a distance of 19 km, from 1986 to 1991 over 19.5 km. Ever since 1992 the distance of the course has been that of a half marathon|21.0975 km). The current course runs counter-clockwise around the Greifensee. The start and finish points are in Uster. Both the half marathon and 10 km run are officially measured. Apart from these two distances there are a variety of short distances - especially for children.

In 2009 the half marathon had 8985 finishers (6360 men and 2625 women), 1193 more than the year before. That same year, the 10 km race was completed by 1737 people (750 men and 987 women).

Lornah Kiplagat is a Dutch professional long-distance runner. She was born in Kabiemit, Rift Valley Province, Kenya and moved to the Netherlands in 1999. She gained Dutch citizenship in 2003 and has competed for the Netherlands ever since. She used to run not only road events but also in cross country and track and field.

The Nagoya Women's Marathon (名古屋ウィメンズマラソン), named Nagoya International Women's Marathon until the 2010 race, is an annual marathon race for female runners over the classic distance of 42 km and 195 metres, held in Nagoya, Japan in early March every year. A total of 35,227 runners started the race and 34,225 of those managed to complete the 42.195 km marathon distance. The 2011 Chicago Marathon was the 34th edition of the annual marathon race in Chicago, Illinois which was held on Sunday, October 9. The men's race was won by Kenya's Moses Mosop in a time of 2:05:37 hours – a course record. Ejegayehu Dibaba, making her marathon distance debut, was the women's winner in 2:22:09. The Auray-Vannes Half Marathon is an annual road running competition over the half marathon distance (21.097 km) which takes place in early September in Brittany, France. The point-to-point course begins in the commune of Auray and finishes in the Stade de Kercado in nearby Vannes. Nearly 5000 people participated in the event in 2011. A record 6378 runners finished the half marathon in 1999.

Joyce Chepkirui is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in road running events. She established herself as a half marathon runner, winning races in Granollers, Bogotá and Gothenburg. She set a best of 1:06:19 hours to win the 2014 Prague Half Marathon. She also competes in 10K road races and her personal best of 30:38 minutes makes her fifth fastest woman ever.

The 20K run is a long distance foot race. It is a rarely held race that is not recognized as an Olympic event. The event held IAAF world championship status in 2006 only, when the existing IAAF World Half Marathon Championships briefly hosted the shorter distance.
