Wilson Omwoyo

Wilson Omwoyo (born 25 November 1965) is a retired Kenyan long-distance runner. [1] He competed for his country at the 1994 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he finished 17th overall. [2]

Although he did not have success internationally with Kenya, he won numerous competitions on the European circuit during his career. In cross country running, he won the 1990 Cross Internacional Valle de Llodio and in 1992 topped the podium at the Cross de l'Acier and Cross Memorial Juan Muguerza races. [3] [4] [5] Other victories included the Cross du Figaro in Paris in 1993 and the Tilburg Warandeloop in 1995. [6] [7]

In addition to his cross country running, he won top level road running competitions as well. He won the Foulée Suresnoise twice consecutively in 1993/1994. [8] At the Greifenseelauf half marathon in Uster he set a course record of 1:01:53 hours in 1994 and returned the following year to win for a second time. [9] He was also a two-time winner at the Grand Prix von Bern (taking titles in 1994 and 1996). [10] In the same year as his second victory in Bern, he won the 20 km of Brussels race with a course best time of 55:41 minutes. [11]

He continued running after peaking in his thirties, but competed at smaller races. He won the Swansea Bay 10K in Wales in 1998. [12] In 2007 he was still running and set an all-comers record for the territory of Guadeloupe, winning a half marathon in Abymes in a time of 1:08:04 hours. [13]

The Cross Internacional Valle de Llodio is an annual cross country running competition that takes place in Llodio in the Basque Country, Spain, around late November. The event was first held in February 1985 and changed to an end-of-year competition soon after, holding its second edition in December 1985.

Luchia Yishak is a former Ethiopian long-distance runner. She ran for Ethiopia at the Summer Olympics in 1992 and 1996.

Elena Fidatov, sometimes known as Elena Fidatof, is a former Romanian middle- and long-distance runner who competed in track, road, and cross country running competitions. In a period spanning 1984 to 2002, she competed at IAAF World Cross Country Championships on thirteen occasions, making her one of the most frequent participants at the event. Tiziana Alagia is a retired Italian long-distance runner who specialised in the marathon. She represented Italy at the World Championships in Athletics in 2001. A one-time Italian marathon champion, her best for the distance was 2:27:53 hours. She primarily competed in Italy and won marathon races in Florence, Carpi, Turin, Padova and Piacenza.

Ondoro Osoro is a former Kenyan long-distance runner who competed mostly in cross country and road races.

Valentina Enachi, also known as Valentina Enaki in sports world, is a Moldovan long-distance runner who specialised in road running competitions, including the marathon. She represented Moldova in the event at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She competed mostly in France and won the Tiberias Marathon, Lausanne Marathon and La Rochelle Marathon

Annette Sergent is a French former long-distance runner. She represented her country three times at the Summer Olympics, but it was in cross country running that she had her greatest success. She became the first Frenchwoman to win a world title in the sport at the 1987 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and won for a second time in 1989. In addition to these victories, she made eleven appearances at the competition and placed third in both 1986 and 1988.

Meriem Wangari Kiprugut is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in half marathon and 10K road races. Her personal best for the half marathon distance is 1:10:27 hours, set in Lille in 2007. She made her marathon debut in 2012 and set a time of 2:31:30 hours on her first attempt.

The Granollers Half Marathon is an annual road running competition over the half marathon distance (21.097 km) which takes place in February in the city of Granollers in Catalonia, Spain.
