Grenada participated in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. As of July 2014, Alleyne Francique's silver medal in the 400 metres remains the sole Grenadan Commonwealth Games medal. [1]

The men's 400 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the athletics program were held at the Athens Olympic Stadium from August 20 to 23. Sixty-two athletes from 48 nations competed. The event was won by Jeremy Wariner of the United States, the sixth in what would ultimately be 7 consecutive American victories stretching from 1984 to 2008 and the 18th overall title in the event by the United States. The United States swept the podium for the 4th time in the event.

Sarah Lucy Hardcastle, also known by her married name Sarah Thomas, is a British former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics, world championships and European championships, and swam for England in the Commonwealth Games. She specialised in the 400- and 800-metre freestyle, and also competed in medley races. Hardcastle won multiple major championship medals over the course of her career, including individual silver and bronze medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics at the age of 15 and two individual gold medals at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. She retired from the sport in 1986 but returned in 1993, winning gold at the World Short Course Championships for the 800-metre freestyle in 1995 and reaching the final of the same event at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Kirani Zeno James COG is a Grenadian professional sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. He won the 400 m at the World Championships in 2011 and won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. In the 400 metres, James also won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, thus becoming the first man to earn the full set of three medals in the centennial history of the event. He is Grenada's first Olympic medalist. He holds the Grenadian national record in both the 200 metres and 400 metres.

They repeated the achievement in the Gold Coast 2018 when Lindon Victor won their second gold medal, this time in the decathlon and Javelin Thrower Anderson Peters won the bronze medal in his event.

Joel Japheth Phillip is a retired Grenadian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. He set a personal best time of 45.29 seconds, by finishing ninth at the 2008 Pac-10 Conference Championships in Tempe, Arizona.
Geiner Alonso Mosquera Becerra is a Colombian sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. He won a gold medal at the 2008 Ibero-American Championships, with a time of 46.63 seconds.
