Summit County is an urban county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census,the population was 540,428,making it the fourth-most populous county in Ohio. Its county seat and largest city is Akron. The county was formed on March 3,1840,from portions of Medina,Portage and Stark Counties. It was named Summit County because the highest elevation on the Ohio and Erie Canal is located in the county.

Governor Mike DeWine set the primary date for August 3,concurrent with the special election in Ohio's 15th congressional district. The general election was on November 2. Shontel Brown won both the competitive Democratic primary and the general election,and was sworn in on November 4.
Sarah Fowler Arthur is an American politician currently serving as the Ohio state representative in Ohio's 99th district. The district includes parts of Ashtabula County and Geauga County.
The 2023 Akron mayoral election was held on November 7,2023,to elect the mayor of Akron,Ohio. Party primaries were held on May 2. Incumbent Democratic mayor Dan Horrigan chose not to seek re-election to a third term in office.
The 2024 Ohio House of Representatives elections will be held on November 5,2024,to elect representatives in all 99 districts of the Ohio House of Representatives. Members will be elected in single-member constituencies to two-year terms. These elections will be held concurrently with various federal and state elections,including for U.S. President,U.S. Senate,and the Ohio Senate.
