Grey Bruce Health Services is a hospital network in Grey and Bruce counties in Ontario, Canada.

Contents

It operates six hospitals sites, including the 400-bed [1] Owen Sound Regional Hospital. The other five hospitals are Lion's Head Hospital, Markdale Hospital, Meaford Hospital, Southampton Hospital and Wiarton Hospital. [2]

As of 2022, the Chief Executive Officer was Gary Sims. [3]

The Walkerton E. coli outbreak was the result of a contamination of the drinking water supply of Walkerton, Ontario, Canada, with E. coli and Campylobacter jejuni bacteria. The water supply was contaminated as a result of improper water treatment following heavy rainfall in late April and early May 2000, that had drawn bacteria from the manure of nearby cattle used to fertilize crops into the shallow aquifer of a nearby well. The first reported case was on May 17. The contamination caused gastroenteritis and sickened more than 2,000 people and resulted in seven deaths.

The Sydenham River is a river in Grey County in southern Ontario. The river flows north from a source near Williamsford, drops over the Niagara Escarpment at Inglis Falls and empties into Owen Sound harbour on Georgian Bay. It was named after Lord Sydenham, governor of Canada from 1839 to 1841. The river was formed from pre-glacial river along the Niagara Escarpment.
