Lexington is the county seat of Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 18,931. It is located in central North Carolina, 20 miles (32 km) south of Winston-Salem. Major highways include I-85, I-85B, U.S. Route 29, U.S. Route 70, U.S. Route 52 and U.S. Route 64. Lexington is part of the Piedmont Triad region of the state.

Grimes Mill was located at 600 N. Church St. in Salisbury, North Carolina. It was built in 1896 as a flour and feed mill. It stayed active until 1982. The Historic Salisbury Foundation bought it that year and later turned it into a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was the only roller mill museum in North Carolina. The site was destroyed by fire on January 16, 2013.
Hampton Hendrix Office is a historic home office building located at Batesburg-Leesville, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built about 1897, and is a one-story, decorated Victorian rectangular weatherboard building. It measures approximately 3 metres by 5.49 metres, and has a gabled metal roof and highly decorative façade. The building is set on a lattice brick curtain wall.
Home National Bank is a historic bank building located near Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built in 1912, and is a two-story brick building. Its corner entrance features a pediment supported by engaged Doric order columns. It is one of five commercial buildings that survived the 1916 fire. The building housed the town's post office from 1912 until the 1960s.
Dunavant Cotton Manufacturing Company, also known as Alpine Cotton Mill No. 1, is a historic cotton mill located at Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It is a two-story, brick-clad, side gable-roofed building. The original section was built in 1888–1910, with additions and expansions through 1966. The additions to the building, made in the mid to late 1960s were removed in 2012 to reveal the original 1888-1910 mill building. It is the oldest cotton textile mill in Morganton, and was in use as a cotton textile mill until 1949.
Baldwin's Mill is a historic grist mill and national historic district located near Pittsboro, Chatham County, North Carolina. The district encompasses one contributing building and three contributing structures. The mill was probably built by 1807, is a 1 1/2- to 2 1/2-story, heavy timber-framed structure approximately 30 feet by 40 feet. Associated with the mill are the mill dam, and mill and tail races. The property also includes a stretch of roadbed dates to about 1820, a blacksmith's shop site, and two log cabins moved to the property in 1975. The mill ceased operation in the late 1920s. It was restored to working order in 1941.
Grimes-Crotts Mill, also known as Eureka Mills, Old Mill, Crotts Mill, is a historic grist mill located near Reedy Creek, Davidson County, North Carolina. It was built between 1870 and 1880, and is a 2 1/2-story, frame mill on a foundation of fieldstone and massive timber pilings. It is sheathed in plain weatherboard and has a monitor roof. The mill machinery was removed in 1937.
Grimes School is a historic school building located at Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina. It was built in 1935–1936, and is a two-story, "T"-shaped, Colonial Revival style brick building. It features large windows, an entrance portico with Ionic order fluted columns, and a large octagonal cupola. Some funding for school construction was provided by the Public Works Administration.

The district encompasses 804 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structure in a predominantly residential section of Lexington. They were built between about 1854 and 1957, and include notable examples of Queen Anne and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. The subdivisions in the district are Park Place, Robbins Heights, Courtenay, Rosemary Park, Hillcrest, Oak Crest, and Westover Heights; along with the Lexington City Cemetery. Notable buildings include Hillside (1854), Brookshire House (1900), Wennonah Mill houses (1910), N. Earl and Daphne Rose House, Charles M. and Jean Wall House, Parkview Apartments, Lexington Shirt Corporation Factory/Hulin Lumber Company, and Nicholson Supermarket.
Erlanger Mill Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina, USA. The district encompasses 282 contributing buildings and 7 contributing structures in a predominantly residential section of Lexington. The mill village dwellings were built between about 1916 and 1929 and include notable examples of Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. The dwellings were constructed by the Erlanger Mill Company as worker's housing and in a subdivision designed by noted landscape architect Earle Sumner Draper (1893–1994). The mill itself is a complex of one- and two-story mill buildings constructed from 1913 through the 1960s. Also located in the district are the Erlanger Baptist Church (1936) and Erlanger Graded School.
Dellinger Mill is a historic grist mill located near Hawk, Mitchell County, North Carolina. It was built about 1901–1903, and is a small unpainted rectangular frame building. It measures 18 feet by 14 feet, 6 inches, and is sheathed in chestnut boards and weatherboard. It has a 23 feet in diameter water wheel that was rebuilt in the 1940s. Other contributing resources are an apple house and the mill site. The mill operated until 1955 and was restored after 1997. It is the last water powered/stone ground grist mill of its kind left in the state of North Carolina.
Taylor's Mill is a historic grist mill located near Middlesex, Nash County, North Carolina. The mill was built about 1850, and is a two-story, gable roofed frame building on a stone pier foundation. The mill measures approximately 30 feet wide by 40 feet long.
Renfro Mill, also known as R. Roberts Leaf Tobacco House, is a historic industrial building located at Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina. The original section was built as a tobacco barn about 1893. The largest addition was built in 1946–1947. It is a one- to 4 1/2-story, brick, concrete, steel, wood, and granite industrial building encompassing 100,000 square feet of space. It was originally built to house a tobacco leaf house, and after 1921 the Renfro company, a sock manufacturer. The mill closed in 1997.
Falls of the Neuse Manufacturing Company, also known as the Manteo Manufacturing Company and Forest Manufacturing Company, is a historic paper mill complex located at Falls, Wake County, North Carolina. The main mill building was built in 1854–1855, and is a three-story, quarried granite block building measuring 195 feet long and 54 feet wide. Located on the property is the stone mill dam, measuring about 400 feet wide and roughly 6 feet tall, and the one-story picker room, measuring 53 feet square. The mill operated as a paper mill until 1896, and later housed a cotton mill and warehouse.
Royall Cotton Mill Commissary is a historic commercial building associated with the Royall Mill and located at Wake Forest, Wake County, North Carolina. It built in 1900, and is a two-story, rectangular brick building with a low gabled metal roof and stepped parapet. It measures 32 feet by 100 feet and has segmental arched windows. The Royall Cotton Mill Commissary closed in 1934. The building has been rehabilitate into apartments.
Boone Creek Rural Historic District, about 11 miles southeast of Lexington, Kentucky, is a 4,060 acres (16.4 km2) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It included 88 contributing buildings, 55 contributing structures, and 25 contributing sites.
