In 2015, the Brazilian Film Critics Association (Abraccine) published a list with the 100 best Brazilian films ever according to the votes of its members. This poll was the basis for a book named The 100 Best Brazilian Films, published in 2016. The idea of the ranking and the book was suggested by publisher Letramento, with whom Abraccine and television network Canal Brasil co-released the book. The ranking was done based on individual lists done by Abraccine's 100 critics, who initially mentioned 379 films. The full list was first made available to the public on 26 November 2015, and the book was released on 1 September 2016.

The Constituent Cortes of 1820, formal title The General and Extraordinary Cortes of the Portuguese Nation, also frequently known as the Sovereign Congress or the Cortes Constituintes Vintistas, was the first modern Portuguese parliament. Created after the Liberal Revolution of 1820 to prepare a constitution for Portugal and its overseas territories, it used a different system from the traditional General Cortes for choosing representatives, and the three traditional feudal estates no longer sat separately. A Hora da Liberdade is a Portuguese docudrama produced and aired by SIC in 1999 which portraits the events that led to the military coup on 25 April 1974, responsible for the restoration of democracy in Portugal. It was produced by Emídio Rangel Hayley Westenra, Rodrigo de Sousa e Castro and Joana Pontes who also assured its direction. From the interviews made to create the film, the book "A Hora da Liberdade - O 25 de Abril pelos protagonistas" was created, published by Editorial Bizâncio. It was considered one of the best movies on the topic of the Carnation Revolution according to Time Out Magazine.
