La Guerra de Familias (2013) (Spanish for "War of the Families") was a professional wrestling major event, produced by the Mexico based International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) professional wrestling promotion. The event took on March 31, 2013, at "Arena Naucalpan" in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, IWRG's main venue. The focal point of the event was a four team tag team tournament between four "families".

Background

The event featured seven professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers, where some were involved in pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines and others simply put together by the matchmakers without a backstory. Being a professional wrestling event matches are not won legitimately through athletic competition; they are instead won via predetermined outcomes to the matches that is kept secret from the general public. Wrestlers portray either heels (the bad guys, referred to as Rudos in Mexico) or faces (fan favorites or Técnicos in Mexico).

The Guerra de Familias tournament paid respect to the fact that wrestling is a family tradition in Lucha libre, with a large number of second and third-generation wrestlers following the footsteps of their relatives and becoming wrestlers themselves. [3] For the tournament IWRG's definition of "Family" included by actual blood relationship, storyline family relationship and one team where the team name included the word "Family". Los Traumas (Trauma I and Trauma II) were legitimately related to each other, both sons of wrestler Negro Navarro and had been a regular tag team since 2002. [3] wrestlers Heavy Metal and Danny Casas represented the "Casas Family", although it has never been officially confirmed if Danny Casas is an actual member of the family or if it is a fictional ring name he is using. [3] The Los Junior Dinamitas team of Cien Caras, Jr. and Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 were not actually related although in the fictional storylines of Lucha Libre they were supposed to be cousins, as Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 is the son of Máscara Año 2000 while Cien Caras, Jr. paid Cien Caras for the use of the character but is not related to him. [4] The fourth team represented a group called La Familia de Tijuana ("The Family from Tijuana"), but Eterno and Mosco X-Fly are not related, nor did they promote them as actually being related. [5] IWRG did not put a specific prize up for the winner of the tournament nor promoting it as the winners would receive a match for the IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship, especially since Trauma I held the championship with his father at that point in time. On the undercard IWRG booked a "Five Match Fighters" match, their term for a multi-man elimination match that included five wrestlers in the ring at the same time. The winner of the match, the man to outlast the other four competitors would be awarded with a match for the IWRG Intercontinental Middleweight Championship, held by El Ángel at a later date. [7] The five competitors included IWRG mid-card workers Carta Brava, Jr. and Centvrión as well as the lower ranked, less experienced Mr. Leo, Fulgore and Power Bull. [1] [2]

Event

The La Guerra de Familias show started out with a Best two-out-of-three falls tag team match between Mexicans Ángel del Amor and Seiya and a team of Japanese wrestlers both originally from Dragon Gate in Japan, Eita and Tomahawk. The two Dragon Gate wrestlers had both come to Mexico as part of their training, learning international styles and worked regularly for IWRG and a number of other independent promotions. Eita had been in Mexico since May, 2012 and Tomahawk since early March, 2013. [8] [9] The Dragon Gate team won the match in two straight falls to take the victory 2 falls to none. [1] [2] In the second match of the night four wrestlers would have to be eliminated for the final wrestler to earn a match against IWRG Intercontinental Middleweight Champion El Ángel at an unspecified date in the future. After the eliminations of Power bull, Mr. Leo and WWS World Welterweight Champion Carta Brava, Jr. the match came down to Centvrión and Fulgore. The match was described as both "exiting" and "fantastic" and saw Centvrión pin his opponent to win the match and be named the number one contender. [1] [2] The third match of the night was a traditional Best two-out-of-three falls six-man tag team match, the most common match form in Lucha Libre. The match saw the rudo team of Black Terry, El Ángel and Scorpio, Jr. face off against the tecnico side consisting of Dinamic Black, Dr. Cerebro and Veneno. Neither side teamed up on a regular basis and was paired up by IWRG for no obvious reason. The two teams split the first two falls between them, forcing the match to go to a third and deciding fall. During the latter part of the match Dinamic Black and El Ángel were both out of action after a dive outside the ring, allowing Dr. Cerebro to pin Black terry and Veneno eliminated Scorpio, Jr. after landing a Senton leap off the top rope on his opponent. The La Guerra de Familias tournament started out with all eight wrestlers in the ring for a Battle Royal where the order of elimination determined which teams would face off in the first round of the tournament. When one wrestler from a team was eliminated the entire team would be eliminated, ending the Battle Royal when there were only four wrestlers left in the ring. The match saw Cien Caras, Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Danny Casas and Heavy Metal remain in the ring while Los Traumas and La Familia de Tijuana being eliminated. With the "Seeding" battle royal over the tournament moved into the tag team portion as Los Traumas faced off against La Familia de Tijuana in a one-fall match. During the match Trauma I aggravated an old knee injury, making him unable to perform a lot of moves during the match. Trauma II was still able to win the match on the team's behalf as he took advantage of Eterno and Mosco X-Fly hitting each other by mistake. [1] [2] The other second round match saw the experienced team known as Los Junior Dinamitas defeat Heavy Metal and Danny Casas, two wrestlers who did not work together as a regular team before the tournament. Following the match Heavy Metal made several challenges to Los Junior Dinmaitas. [1] [2] The doctor would not allow Trauma I to compete in the tournament final due to his knee injury, leaving Trauma II to face both Cien Caras, Jr. and Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 in the match. With the two-on-one advantage Los Junior Dinamitas were quickly able to defeat Trauma II to win the tournament. Following their victory Los Junior Dinamitas made a challenge to Trauma I and Negro Navarro to defend the IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship against them in the near future. [1] [2]

Aftermath

Los Junior Dinamitas faced Trauma I and Negro Navarro a week later, challenging for the Tag Team Championship. Despite still being hampered by the injury Negro Navarro and Trauma I were able to defeat Cien Caras, Jr. and Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 to retain their championship. [10]

IWRG Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship Professional wrestling championship by International Wrestling Revolution Group

The IWRG Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship is a singles Championship in the Mexican lucha libre promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) and was introduced in 1997. It has since been defended throughout Mexico, primarily in Naucalpan, but also in Japan as well. As the Championship is designated as a heavyweight title, it can only officially be competed for by wrestlers weighing at least 105 kg (231 lb).

The IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship is a professional wrestling tag team championship promoted by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) since 2000. As it is a professional wrestling championship, the championship was not won not by actual competition, but by a scripted ending to a match determined by the bookers and match makers. On occasion the promotion declares a championship vacant, which means there is no champion at that point in time. This can either be due to a storyline, or real life issues such as a champion suffering an injury being unable to defend the championship, or leaving the company.

Máscara Año 2000 Jr.

Ángel Omar Reyes Franco is a Mexican luchador or professional wrestler, better known as Máscara Año 2000 Jr. He is working for Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA), and International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). Máscara Año 2000 Jr. originally worked under a mask and his real name was not a matter of public record, until he lost his mask in a match in August 2012. His father Jesús Reyes González wrestled under the ring name Máscara Año 2000. He is a former holder of the IWRG Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship and a co-holder of the IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship along with El Hijo de Cien Caras. In the United States he is best known through his appearance on the travel show Dhani Tackles the Globe, where he wrestled host Dhani Jones in an episode of the show's second season.

El Hijo de Cien Caras Mexican professional wrestler

Eustacio Jiménez Ibarra was a Mexican Luchadorenmascarado, or masked professional wrestler better known by the ring name of El Hijo de Cien Caras. The name is Spanish for "the Son of Cien Caras." He was not, however, related to wrestler Cien Caras, but instead paid Cien Caras for the rights to use the ring name, a practice not uncommon in Lucha Libre. He also wrestled under the names Frankenstein and Suplex, named after the monster and the wrestling move. He was the brother of Adolfo Tapia, who wrestles as L.A. Park as well as the nephew of Super Parka, the cousin of Volador Jr., the uncle of El Hijo de L.A. Park and the great uncle of Flyer.

Juan Francisco Domínguez is a Mexican luchador or professional wrestler, currently performing under the ring name X-Fly. He is also known as the original Mosco de la Merced, a name which has since been given another luchador. He is best known for his stints with the AAA promotion, the latest while representing Los Perros del Mal.

Antheus Ortiz Chávez, better known under the ring name Hijo de Pirata Morgan is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a tecnico wrestling character. Rebelión de los Juniors (2012) 2012 International Wrestling Revolution Group event

Rebelión de los Juniors (2012) was an annual professional wrestling major event produced by Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), which took place on March 15, 2012 in Arena Naucalpan, Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Mexico. The main event of the match was a 10-man elimination match featuring 10 "Juniors" with the last surviving participant becoming the #1 contender for the IWRG Junior de Juniors Championship held by Trauma I at the time. The ten competitors were Bestia 666, Carta Brava, Jr., El Canek, Jr., Apolo Estrada, Jr., Halcón 78, Jr., El Hijo de L.A. Park, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner, Jr., Máscara Sagrada, Jr. and Ultraman, Jr.. The main event came down to just Bestia 666 and Hijo de Pirata Morgan left in the ring. During the match the referee was knocked down, which allowed La Familia de Tijuana remembers Damian 666, Halloween, Super Nova and Zumbi to come to the ring to attack Hijo de Pirata Morgan, allowing Bestia 666 to pin his opponents only moments later.

Los Traumas or Los Hermanos Trauma is the name of a Mexican professional wrestling tag team consisting of the enmascarado (masked) brothers Trauma I and Trauma II. Los Traumas' real names are not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. Los Traumas are the sons of professional wrestler Miguel Calderón Navarro, better known under the ring name Negro Navarro. Los Capos Junior is a Mexican professional wrestling group, called a stable, which is working on the Mexican Independent circuit, including regular appearances for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). The group works as a rudo faction and often teams together for tag team or Trios matches. The storyline behind team is that they are all sons of one of the original Los Capos, Cien Caras and Máscara Año 2000, although only one of the four members have been confirmed as being a blood relative while two others were definitely not. Rebelión de los Juniors (2016) was an annual professional wrestling major event produced by Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), that took place on March 13, 2016 in Arena Naucalpan, Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Mexico. The focal point of the show was the Eponymous Rebelión de los Juniors tournament, an eight-man elimination match where all wrestlers were either second or third-generatoon wrestlers. The last surviving participant was rewarded by becoming the number one contender for the IWRG Junior de Juniors Championship held by Golden Magic at the time of the show.

The title Guerra de Empresas is the name of a series of major lucha libre shows produced and scripted by the Mexico-based International Wrestling Revolution Group professional wrestling promotion. The Guerra de Empresas title has also been used by other Mexican wrestling promotions such as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and various Mexican independent promotions. The Guerra de Empresas always features wrestlers from two or more promotions wrestling against each other in a tournament.

The 2012 Guerra de Familias was a major lucha libre event produced and scripted by the Mexican International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) professional wrestling promotion in conjunction with Promocione Wagner on April 8, 2012. The show was held in Arena Naucalpan, Naucalpan, State of Mexico, which is IWRG's primary venue. The show was the first show promoted under the Guerra de Familias, with IWRG holding subsequent shows in later years.

Guerra Revolucionaria (2010) 2010 International Wrestling Revolution Group event

The Guerra Revolucionaria (2010) show was a major professional wrestling event produced and scripted by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), which took place on October 31, 2010 in Arena Naucalpan, Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Mexico. The main event of the show was a 20-man Battle Royal where the eliminated wrestlers would all remain at ringside, act as "Lumberjacks" to ensure none of the participants left the ring. Each lumberjack would be given a leather straps they were allowed to use on the still-active competitors. There was no official prize for winning the match other than the increased public profile of the winning wrestler.

IWRG Legado Final International Wrestling Revolution Group event series

The Legado Final is a series of major wrestling shows produced and scripted by the Mexican lucha libre professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group. The first Legado Final show was held on June 2, 2011 at IWRG's main venue Arena Naucalpan, with a second held in 2012 and a third show held in 2015. The event celebrates, or pays tribute to, the fact that lucha libre is a family tradition with a main event tournament where fathers and sons team up for a tag team elimination match.

Universo 2000 Jr./Universo Dos Mil Jr. is the ring name of a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) based in Mexico City where he portrays a heel character. He is a second-generation professional wrestler, part of the Reyes family that includes his father Universo 2000, uncles Cien Caras and Máscara Año 2000, as well as cousins El Cuatrero, Sansón, Forastero, and Máscara Año 2000 Jr.. His birth name is not a matter of public record, which is a strong tradition for masked wrestlers in Mexico, where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. In CMLL he has won the 2019 edition of La Copa Junior.
