Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) is an industrial refrigerant manufacturer in India. It is one of the largest producers (by volume) of chloromethane, refrigerants and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). [3]
The company was incorporated in 1987, is a subsidiary of Inox Leasing and Finance Limited. GFL has two manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, a refrigerant plant at Ranjitnagar near Ghoghmba town Panchmahal, and a PTFE facility at Dahej. [4] [5] It has two subsidiaries - Gujarat Fluorochemicals Americas LLC and Gujarat Fluorochemicals GmbH to cater Americana and European operations respectively.
In 2000s, the company was embroiled in "shoddy practice" of destroying HFC 23, a byproduct released in the coolant-making process at its plant at Nathkuva village in Halol. In return, company was earning "lucrative" carbon credit. [6] As per the 2010 Hindustan Times reporting, the company earned nearly half of its revenue for FY 2009-2010 from the sale of carbon credits. [7]

Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited is a semi-governmental Indian company with major stakes held by Government of Assam, Oil India Limited and Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC). The company was incorporated in 1971 and by 1976 had started production at their small methanol plant located at Namrup along with formaldehyde and a few urea-formaldehyde resins like urea-formaldehyde glue and urea-formaldehyde moulding powder. The company announced in September 2017 that it would invest ₹1,337 crore (US$170 million) and expand to produce 500TPD methanol and 200TPD formalin and become the largest producer of methanol in India. The required feedstock for these plants are natural gas, urea and carbon dioxide. Natural gas, supplied by Oil India Ltd, is used as feedstock for methanol production. Urea and carbon dioxide are supplied by BVFCL Fertilizer Plant.

The 2006 Ahmedabad railway station bombing was a blast at platform number 2/3 of Kalupur railway station Ahmedabad, India. 10-25 people sustained minor injuries. At the time of blast no train was present at the platform, two trains had passed before explosion and the Kutch express was about to arrive at the platform, the casualties and severity of the explosion may increased if any train was present at the platform.
