The Gujarat Super League is a men's football league in the state of Gujarat, organized by the Gujarat State Football Association. [1] It will feature 6 teams in the initial season, and will hold matches at EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. [2]

Format

It is held in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams at the end of the league stage contesting the final. [1]

The players will be selected by draft. In the inaugural draft, 250 players from Gujarat will be included. [3]

Awards

The champions of the GSL will receive a prize money of 11 lakhs, while the runners-up will receive ₹5 lakhs. Individually, the best players in eight different categories will get a prize money of ₹25,000 each on the basis of their performance throughout the tournament. [1]

Broadcasting

After the Santosh Trophy, the GSL became the second Indian football tournament to be streamed globally on FIFA+. [1]

Sports retain a very valuable position in the culture of Gujarat. Some of the popular sports played in Gujarat are cricket, kho-kho, badminton, football, kabaddi and table tennis. The Sports Authority of Gujarat presides and supervises the sporting activities under the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department. There have been many successful and popular initiatives undertaken by the authority to encourage the sports culture in Gujarat, Khel Mahakumbh' being an example. Gujarat has various levels of sports competitions including events of both larger and smaller levels.

The African Football League (AFL) is an annual continental men's club football competition run by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since 2023. It was announced on 28 November 2019 by Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA. Gujarat Titans (GT) are a professional franchise cricket team based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Titans compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Founded in 2021, Gujarat Titans' home ground is Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. The franchise is owned by CVC Capital Partners. The team is currently captained by Shubman Gill, after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians, where he had played prior to joining the team. The Gujarat Titans are coached by Ashish Nehra. They won their maiden title in the 2022 season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, which was also their debut season.

The 2024 Gujarat Super League was the first edition of the Gujarat Super League. Karnavati Knights became the champions of the inaugural season.
