The National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, due to ties with FIFA also known as the FIFA Santosh Trophy, or simply Santosh Trophy, is an inter-state national football competition contested by the state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Before the launch of the first national club league, the National Football League in 1996, the Santosh Trophy was considered the top domestic tournament in India. Many players who have represented India internationally have played in the Santosh Trophy. The tournament is held every year with eligible teams who are divided into zones, must play in the qualifying round and can progress into the tournament proper.

The Football Players' Association of India or (FPAI) is an association for Indian association footballers. Created in 2006, it aims to "look after the welfare of players and educate and advice them by engaging professionals". It was created by former Indian national team captain Bhaichung Bhutia. In 2007, it got affiliated to FIFPro.

State football leagues in India represents premier-state (football), overall 5th-10th men's and 3rd women's tier of the Indian football league system. There are currently a total of 36 state associations affiliated with the national governing body, the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

Sports retain a very valuable position in the culture of Gujarat. Some of the popular sports played in Gujarat are cricket, kho-kho, badminton, football, kabaddi and table tennis. The Sports Authority of Gujarat presides and supervises the sporting activities under the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department. There have been many successful and popular initiatives undertaken by the authority to encourage the sports culture in Gujarat, Khel Mahakumbh' being an example. Gujarat has various levels of sports competitions including events of both larger and smaller levels.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is the premier governing body of wrestling in India. It is headquartered in New Delhi and affiliated to the United World Wrestling (UWW), which makes it the internationally recognized wrestling regulation body of India. Currently headed by Sanjay Singh, the key role of the body is to organize the training and support of wrestlers across India for both domestic as well as international wrestling events. The Gujatat State Football Association Club Championship is the highest state-level football league in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is organised by Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA). The league is also the 5th tier of the Indian football league system.

The 2023 Gujarat SFA Club Championship is the second season of the top tier football league of Gujarat. The season started on 3 September 2022, and will end in 2023.

The Gujarat State Women's League is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Gujarat. The league is organised by the Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA), the official football governing body of the state.
