The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) [1] [2] is one of the 36 Indian state football associations that are affiliated with the All India Football Federation. [3] The MFA is the football governing body in the state of Meghalaya, India. The Meghalaya football team is also administered by the MFA. It sends state teams for Santosh Trophy and Senior Women's National Football Championship.

Men's

The Shillong Premier League (SPL) is a regional professional football league in the state of Meghalaya, organised by the Shillong Sports Association (SSA). [4] It started with 8 teams in 2010. Shillong Lajong FC are the current champions. [5] [6]

Women's

The SSA Women's Football League is the top division women's football league in Meghalaya and is organised by the SSA. [7]

Meghalaya State League

The inaugural Meghalaya State League organised by the Meghalaya Football Association was held in 2017–18. It was won by Niaw Wasa United. The next 2019 edition was won by Shillong Lajong FC. [8]

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, locally known as Polo Ground, is a football stadium in Shillong, in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It has most notably hosted the home matches of Shillong Lajong FC in the I-League. The stadium has a seating capacity of 30,000 spectators.

2016 Shillong Premier League was the 2016 edition of Shillong Premier League, top division football league in the Indian state of Meghalaya. The league began on 18 August with eight teams competing. It was known as the Geonee Shillong Premier League this season for sponsorship reasons.

Northeast Derby is the name given to the football matches played among the northeastern I-League teams Shillong Lajong, Aizawl, TRAU and NEROCA. Shillong Lajong was first promoted in 2009–10 season, followed by Aizawl in 2015-16 season, NEROCA and TRAU in 2017-18 and 2019–20 respectively.

Ryntih Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Mawlai Mawdatbaki, Shillong, in Meghalaya state. Founded in 1998, the club competes in the Shillong Premier League. They have also participated in 2021 I-League Qualifiers.

Ambernath United-Atlanta Football Club, was a merger of two clubs Ambernath United FC & Atlanta FC based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, that competed in the MFA Elite Division. The club was promoted to the I-League 2. In 2023, the merger between both the clubs broke. Maharashtra Oranje FC took over Atlanta Football Club & earned I-League 2 spot. Ambernath United FC joined hands with Bombay Muslims FC to form Ambernath United Bombay Muslims FC that compete in MFA Premier League.

The SSA Women's Football League is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Meghalaya. The league is organised by the Shillong Sports Association (SSA), which is affiliated with the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA), the official football governing body of the state.
