Gunter Mayr (born 25 January 1972) is an Austrian economist serving as minister of finance since 2024. [1]
Mayr was born in Innsbruck in 1972,and graduated from the University of Innsbruck with a degree in legal science and business economics. [2] He began working for the Ministry of Finance in 2003,and was appointed head of the tax policy and tax law department in 2012. [3] In 2009,he became a professor of financial law at the University of Vienna. [4]
Innsbruck is the capital of Tyrol and the fifth-largest city in Austria. On the River Inn,at its junction with the Wipp Valley,which provides access to the Brenner Pass 30 km (19 mi) to the south,it had a population of 132,493 in 2018.
