Gurudev Gupta was an Indian politician and renowned journalist. He was a Member of Parliament,representing Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha the upper house of India's Parliament as a member of the Indian National Congress. He along with his brothers Shri Pooranchand Gupta and Shri J C Arya established the Hindi daily newspaper "Dainik Jagran" in 1942 from Jhasi. Today the said newspaper is a mega brand in the print media industry of India and is the largest circulated newspaper of the country. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan was an Indian politician who served twice as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1975 until 1977 and from 13 March 1986 until 26 June 1988. He was Finance Minister of India from 1988 to 1989 and served as Home Minister of India in the P. V. Narasimha Rao cabinet from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996. He served as Home Minister of India in the Rajiv Gandhi cabinet 31 December 1984 to 12 March 1986.
Indrajit Gupta was an Indian politician who belonged to the Communist Party of India (CPI). From 1996 to 1998,he served as Union Home Minister in the United Front governments of prime ministers H. D. Deve Gowda and I. K. Gujral. That was a dramatic reversal of roles,as the home ministry had,since independence in 1947,banned the CPI thrice,with many of its members,including Gupta,being sent to prison or pushed underground for long stretches.
