Guwahati Food Awards (GFA) is an annual food award in India instituted in 2015. It aims to recognize superior services and achievements in the food and beverage industry of Guwahati, India. [1] [2]

Contents

The winners get selected through a multi-phase process that involves public voting, food tasting and jury visits. [3]

History

It was established in 2015 by G Plus. [2]

Editions

2018

This edition received over 157 nominations across 23 categories. [4] The jury of GFA 2018 includes Chef Faruk Ahmed, Dr. Geeta Dutta and Aabhishek Bedi Varma, a former chef of Taj Group of Hotels and headed by Suresh Hinduja, the CEO of Gourmet India. [5] Kunal Vijaykar was a chief guest for the event. [6]

2017

GFA received 186 nominations across 25 categories in 2017. The special jury included Food critic and author Ashish Chopra and Suresh Hinduja, CEO of Gourmet India. Riyaaz Amlani, Restaurateur and President of National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI) was the Chief Guest for the event. [2] [9] [10]

2016

The second edition of Guwahati Food Awards was held at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati with Chief Guest Chef Manjit Gill, Corporate Chef, ITC Hotels and President of Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA). [11]

2015

The first edition of Guwahati Food Awards was held at Radisson, Guwahati. The Chief Guest of the event was Sanjeev Pahwa - Senior Vice President – Asia for Carlson Rezidor Hotels. [12]

Alcheringa, also known as "Alcher", is the annual cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. The festival was started in 1996 by a group of students of IIT Guwahati. Spread over 3 days and 4 nights, Alcheringa is conducted towards the end of January every year. The 27th edition of Alcheringa was held from 2nd February 2023 to 5th February 2023, witnessing 80+ events.

The Prag Cine Awards North-East 2015 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2014 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, and took place on 21–22 March 2015, at the Chowkidingee field in Dibrugarh, Assam. This was the first time when films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony. Assamese actress Nishita Goswami and television host Nabish Alam hosted the show. Film fraternities from Northeast as well as Bollywood personalities such as Neha Dhupia, Gulshan Grover, Adil Hussain were present in this event.

Rajni Basumatary is an Indian filmmaker and actress, best known for her role of Mary Kom's mother in the 2014 Hindi film Mary Kom. Basumatary has written and produced the highly acclaimed feature film Anurag. Her directorial debut Raag was released in all major cities in India in 2014.

Prodyut Kumar Deka is an Indian film director, screenwriter and author residing in Assam, India. His films include Dhunia Tirutabur, Samiran Barua Ahi Ase, Surjasta, Borosi, Chiyahir Rong, Ji Golpor Ses Nai and The Government Servant. He turned to writing english fiction gradually from 2016-17 with the anthropological Ambari Series based on the Ambari Archeological site in Guwahati.

Shree Thaker Bhojanalay is a Mumbai eating house that serves a Gujarati thali. It is located in Fanaswadi, Kalbadevi. It was established in 1945 by Maganlal Purohit. It is owned by Gautam Purohit, who is also the head chef. The Bhojanalay is where Alice Waters is reported to have eaten a jowar bhakri for the first time.

The Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) (Assamese: গুৱাহাটী আন্তঃৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় চলচ্চিত্ৰ মহোৎসৱ) is an annual film festival held in Guwahati, Assam, India.The State Government-owned Jyoti Chitraban (Film Studio) Society organised the festival in association with the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute. The first ever Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) to be held in northeast India, which will be inaugurated on 28 October 2017 by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The Assam government supported festival began on 28 October with screening of the Oscar winning ‘The Salesman’, directed by Asghar Farhadi and produced by a joint collaboration of Iran and France.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">65th Filmfare Awards</span> Indian Film Award

The 65th Filmfare Awards ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honored the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2019. The ceremony was held on 15 February 2020 in Guwahati and broadcast on Colors TV the following day. This is the first time in six decades that a Filmfare ceremony was held outside Mumbai. Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal were hosts of the award ceremony.

The 1st Mirchi Music Awards, presented by the Radio Mirchi, honoured the best of Hindi music from the year 2008. The ceremony was held on 28 March 2009 at the Hotel Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai and was hosted by Shaan and Tulip Joshi. There were many performances, including those by Dominique Cerejo, Benny Dayal, Manohari Singh, Bipasha Basu, Shreya Ghoshal, Genelia D'Souza, Kunal Ganjawala, Shahid Kapoor and Prachi Shah, the winner of the Tata Indicom Talent Hunt. Awards were given out in 17 different categories. Jodhaa Akbar won a leading seven awards including Song of the Year. Album of the Year was won by film Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. The show was broadcast on 12 April 2009 on StarPlus.
