Guy Busick is an American film and television screenwriter best known for his collaborations with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, including Ready or Not (2019), Scream (2022), Scream VI (2023) and Abigail (2024).

Career

In 2016, Busick began his writing career by drafting the story for the thriller film Urge . [1] He transitioned to television by writing episodes of Stan Against Evil and Castle Rock . [2] [3] In 2019, he began his series of collaborations with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett by drafting the screenplay for the horror film Ready or Not . [4] In 2020, he continued his collaborations with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett with the upcoming horror film Reunion. [5] The following year, he gained notability from writing the script for the slasher revival film Scream . [6] In January 2022, he was hired to script the upcoming horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines . [7] [8] In February 2022, he wrote the screenplay for Scream VI , a sequel to the 2022 Scream slasher revival. [9] In October 2024, he wrote a sequel to his 2019 film Ready or Not. [10]

The film series has grossed over US$910 million at the global box office.

James Platten Vanderbilt is an American screenwriter and producer. He is best known for writing the films Zodiac (2007), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel, and Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). He also co-wrote and produced Scream (2022) and its 2023 sequel. Vanderbilt also contributed as producer for several films, including The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018) and Ready or Not (2019).

It is a sequel to Scream 4 (2011), the fifth installment in the Scream film series, and the first in the series not directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015 and to whom the film is dedicated. It is also the first film in the franchise not to be produced by Dimension Films due to it becoming defunct in 2019, and the first film to be distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film stars Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar, with Marley Shelton, Skeet Ulrich, Roger L. It is directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein and written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor. The film is produced by New Line Cinema and is scheduled to be released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 16, 2025.

Scream (Music from the Motion Picture) is the soundtrack to the 2022 film Scream, the fifth instalment in the Scream franchise directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The original score is composed by Brian Tyler, thereby replacing veteran franchise composer Marco Beltrami who contributed music for the first four instalments. The original score was released by Varèse Sarabande on January 7, 2022 and features 24 tracks running for over an hour. Unlike the previous instalments, a soundtrack for the songs featured in the film had not been released.
