Final Destination Bloodlines is an upcoming American supernatural horror film and the sixth installment in the Final Destination film series, following Final Destination 5 (2011). It is directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein and written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, based on a story developed by them and Jon Watts. It stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd, who reprises his role as William Bludworth.

A college student experiencing a recurring nightmare that foretells her family's demise returns home to find the person who can prevent it.

Filmmaker Jon Watts produced and conceived the story for the sixth installment, and chose directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein to helm the film from over 200 candidates.

Before the release of Final Destination 5 in 2011, series actor Tony Todd said that if the film were to be successful, two sequels would be filmed back-to-back. [1] In January 2019, New Line Cinema announced a new installment was in development. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan wrote the initial script, described as a "re-imagining" of the franchise. [2] [3] In March 2020, series producer Craig Perry said the film would be set "in the world of first responders" and feature EMTs, firefighters, and police officers. When asked if it was in the same canon as the previous installments, he said, "Reboot is probably too strong of a word ... it makes it sound like they're going to change everything, but it's definitely a Final Destination movie". [4] That October, series creator Jeffrey Reddick confirmed a sixth film had been in the works prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. [5]

In October 2021, Lori Evans Taylor was reported to be the new writer for the film. [6] In January 2022, HBO Max announced it would distribute the film, Jon Watts joined the project as a producer, and Taylor was confirmed to have written the screenplay alongside Guy Busick. [7] That July, Reddick revealed the film would differ from the franchise's formula. [8] In September that year, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein were selected from over two hundred candidates to direct the film. During a Zoom meeting with executives and producers from New Line to make their pitch, Lipovsky and Stein staged a freak accident like the ones in the films at the end of the call; insiders said the joke, which featured a combination of prerecorded footage and visual effects and demonstrated the filmmakers' passion for the film, got them hired. [9] In September 2023, Todd officially signed on to reprise his role as William Bludworth. The film will explore the character's backstory. [10] Despite Todd's death in November 2024, Warner Bros. confirmed he managed to shoot all his role in the film. [11] In March 2024, it was announced that the film would be released in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures. [12] Most of the cast was also revealed. [13]

Principal photography was scheduled to take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, from July to October 2023, [14] but in mid-July, production was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. [15] With Christian Sebaldt as cinematographer, filming instead took place in Vancouver from March 4 to May 13, 2024. [12] [16] Tim Wynn was hired to compose the score by December 2024. [17]

Release

Final Destination Bloodlines is scheduled to be released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 16, 2025. [12] [18] The film was filmed for IMAX [19] and will be released in both IMAX and standard formats. [20]

It is the sequel to the 2000 film Final Destination and the second installment of the Final Destination film series. The film stars Ali Larter, A. J. Cook, and Michael Landes. Cook portrays a woman who "cheats death" after having a premonition of herself and others perishing in a highway pile-up and uses it by saving herself and a handful of people, but is stalked by Death afterwards by means of claiming back their lives which should have been lost in the highway. Final Destination 3 is a 2006 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wong. A standalone sequel to Final Destination 2 (2003), it is the third installment in the Final Destination film series. Wong and Glen Morgan, who worked on the franchise's first film, wrote the screenplay. Final Destination 3 stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman, and takes place over six years after the first film. Winstead plays Wendy Christensen, a high school graduate who has a premonition that a roller coaster she and her classmates are riding will derail. Although she saves some of them, Death begins hunting the survivors. Wendy realizes photographs she took at the amusement park contain clues about her classmates' deaths. With survivor and friend Kevin Fischer (Merriman), Wendy tries to use this knowledge to save the rest of the survivors and ruin Death's scheme.

Final Destination is an American horror franchise that includes six films, ten novels, and two comic books. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for The X-Files television series and was distributed by New Line Cinema. All of its six films are set around the premise of a small group of people who escape impending death after one individual has a sudden premonition and warns them about a major disaster that is about to occur. After avoiding their foretold deaths seen in the visions, the survivors are later killed one by one in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force by creating complicated chains of cause and effect, resembling Rube Goldberg machines, and then read omens in order to again avert their deaths.
