HJ Dora is a 1965 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, the former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh and former Vigilance Commissioner, Government of India. [1] Dora joined the Indian Police Service in 1965 and was allotted to Andhra Pradesh Cadre. After serving as an additional D.G. of Police (C.I.D.), in Andhra Pradesh, he was promoted to the Director General of Police for the State in 1996. In 2002 he went on deputation as Director General of Police to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in New Delhi. [2] He also served as the president of Indian Olympic Weight Lifting Association and was also the Chef-de-mission of the Indian contingent to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. [3] [4] In 1993, Dora was one of the 40-odd policemen marked for death by the People's War Group (PWG). [5]

Dora is the recipient of President's police medal for Distinguished Services, Police Medal for Meritorious services, and Police Medal of Gallantry. [6] [7]

Early life

He was born in 1943 and hails from Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. [8] After completing his Masters's in Economics from Andhra University in Vishakhapatnam, [9] he joined the Indian Police Service in 1965. [10]

Career

From 1989 to late 1992, he served as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. [11] He later served as Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad and as Director General and Inspector-general of police, Andhra Pradesh. He served as a police officer in various districts including Anantapur, Karimnagar, and Krishna through 1984. After that, he served with the police intelligence for five years. [12] He also worked as Director General, Central Industrial Security Force, Delhi and as Vigilance Commissioner, Central Vigilance Commission. [2]

Dora joined the GMR group in 2006 as advisor security of the Delhi International Airport during the privatization transition after retiring from the police service.

V. Dinesh Reddy is an Indian police officer from the state of Andhra Pradesh serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police. He is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1977 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He completed his schooling from Hyderabad public school (HPS) and college from Madras Christian College (MCC) and St.Stephens Delhi. Dinesh Reddy joined the Indian Police Service on 30 July 1977 from the Andhra Pradesh Cadre and he retired serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police in 2013.

Bayyarapu Prasada Rao was an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1979 batch of the state of Andhra Pradesh who served as the Director General (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh Police. He was appointed in charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh on 30 September 2013. Earlier he served as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he was deputed as Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India which is one of the key posts after the Union Home Secretary. Prakash Singh is a retired Indian Police Service officer, who rose to the highest rank of Director General of Police (DGP). He has served as Chief of the Border Security Force (BSF), Uttar Pradesh Police and Assam Police. He is considered one of the best police officers for his role as key architect for Police reforms in India. After his retirement from service in 1996, he filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court of India. The landmark verdict of PIL came in 2006, in which the Supreme Court has given specific directions to the central and state governments to carry out structural changes in the police with a view to insulating it from extraneous pressures and making it accountable to the people.

Rajeev Kumar is a former Director General of Police of the state of Jharkhand. He held highly responsible positions during his career. He is a 1991 batch IPS officer. He was appointed as the DGP Jharkhand in the year 2013 and served for two years thereafter. In the year 1997, he was awarded the President's Police Medal for Meritorious services and in the year 2014, he was also awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished services.

At present, Sanjay is the Chief of AP Criminal Investigation Department. He also holds full additional charges as Director-General of AP Disaster Response and Fire Services and as Director, AP Police Personnel and Training.

He was appointed as DGP on 1 July 2018 and served in the position till 1 June 2019. He is a B.Tech graduate from IIT Kanpur joined the Indian Police Service in 1986.

Ravi Joseph Lokku, IPS, is the present Additional Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development, New Delhi. He is also on the Executive Council of Rashtriya Raksha University, New Delhi.
