Halifax County Public Schools is a school district serving Halifax County, Virginia. It consists of seven elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, one early learning center, and a STEM Center.

Superintendent

The current superintendent is Mark Y. Lineburg. [2] Dr. Lineburg has been superintendent since July 1 of the 2017–18 school year. [3] Before coming to Halifax County Public Schools, Lineburg was an assistant principal at Churchland High School. He also served as the superintendent of Bristol Virginia Public Schools from 2010 to 2014, and the superintendent of Winchester Public Schools from 2014 to 2016. Lineburg also worked in the Radford City, Campbell County, and Amherst County school systems.

Henry County Public Schools operates 14 schools - two high schools, two middle schools, and ten elementary schools - a community learning center, and a regional alternative program. HCPS operates preschool programs at ten elementary schools.

Halifax County High School is a public high school located in South Boston, Virginia, United States. It is located less than 2 mi (3.2 km) from Halifax County Middle School. Having 2,319 students currently enrolled in the 2017–18 school year, there are 118 faculty members with a 15.1 student/teacher ratio. At Halifax County High, students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and testing. Halifax County High School is equipped with two football fields, one soccer field, one field for baseball, and a basketball arena. Halifax County high school currently runs on the semester system. The student body makeup is 49 percent male and 51 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 51 percent. Halifax County High is the only high school in the Halifax County Public Schools. Halifax County High School has an 82.2 percent on-time graduation rate and a 2.1 percent drop out rate.

Granville County Schools is a PK–12 graded school district serving Granville County, North Carolina. Its 15 schools serve approximately 6,627 students as of the 2022- 2023 school year. The system was formed in 1963 from the merger of the former Granville County Schools and Oxford City schools. Granville county public schools now offers year round schools, and also the new Granville academy which offers different way of leaning.
