The All India Trinamool Congress is an Indian political party that is mainly influential in the state of West Bengal. It was founded by Mamata Banerjee on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction from the Indian National Congress and rapidly rose to prominence in the politics of West Bengal under her leadership. Legislative Assembly elections were held in 2016 for 294 seats of the Vidhan Sabha in the Indian state of West Bengal. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats,and thus was re-elected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election,the poll was held in six phases,with the first phase divided into two days. The first phase was held in Naxalite-Maoist affected red corridor areas with two polling dates:4 April and 11 April. The other phases were held on 17,21,25,30 April and 5 May. The result of the election was declared on 19 May.

Pawan Kumar Singh is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He is the son of Arjun Singh of Barrackpore and a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Bhatpara. The seat became vacant due to the resignation of sitting MLA Arjun Singh. In the by-election,Pawan Singh won the seat on the BJP ticket defeating former transport minister of West Bengal Madan Mitra.
Sunil Singh is an Indian politician and a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Noapara in West Bengal,a seat which he won in February 2018 as an All India Trinamool Congress candidate. He was also the chairman of Garulia municipality till September 2019. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in June 2019. Singh left BJP by withdrawing from the municipal councillor candidature on 12 February 2022,after which he rejoined All India Trinamool Congress on 13 February 2022.
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Asembly election was the 17th quinquennial legislative election held in West Bengal,to elect all 294 members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This electoral process of 292 seats unfolded between 27 March to 29 April 2021,taking place in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021.

Biswajit Das is an Indian politician from the All India Trinamool Congress party. In May 2021,he was elected as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Bagdah constituency. He ran for the office as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and defeated Paritosh Kumar Saha of All India Trinamool Congress by 9,792 votes in 2021 West Bengal Assembly election,but returned to the All India Trinamool Congress later in 2021.
Minhajul Arfin Azad is an Indian Trinamool Congress politician and farmer. He has been serving as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly for Chakulia since May 2021.
The Seventeenth Legislative Assembly of West Bengal constituted after the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections which were concluded earlier on 29 April 2021 and the results were announced on 2 May 2021. The tenure of West Bengal Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 7 May 2026.
