Hamkah bin Mohamed Afik is a former Singapore sprinter who competed in the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. He made his international debut at the 1989 Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia at the age of 17. [1] In the 1993 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore, he won the silver medal in the 200m. [1] He was also part of the team that won bronze in the men's 4x100m relay team in the same games, repeating the feat at the 1997 Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia. In the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam, he was part of the men's 4x100m relay team that won silver. [2]

After hanging up his spikes, Hamkah took on coaching. He was national relay coach for Singapore from 2006 to 2010, [3] a role he assumed again between 2017 and 2019;[ citation needed ] the 2009 men's 4x100m team took silver at the Southeast Asian Games, becoming the first Singapore team to clock below 40s. [4] He is coach of Mark Lee, who at the 2022 National Schools Track & Field Championships broke the A Division records for the 200m [5] and 100m. [6]

Hamkah's daughter, Haanee Afik, participated in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila as part of the women's 4x100m relay team. [1]

Alfred König, also known as Ali Ferit Gören and Alfred Göring, was an Austrian-Turkish Olympic sprinter. He was Austrian national champion in the 200m juniors in 1932, the 400m in 1936, the 4x100m relay in 1937, and the 4x400m relay in 1934 and 1937. At the 1935 Maccabiah Games in Mandatory Palestine, he won a gold medal in the 200m, was part of the gold medal winning 4x400m relay, won a silver medal in the 400m, and won a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay. He competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany.

Mark Lee is a Singaporean athlete who specialises in the 100m and 200m sprints. As a student at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) -- and coached by former Singapore sprinter Hamkah Afik -- he broke the 100m and 200m national schools records in 2022 with timings of 10.59s and 21.62s respectively. At the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, he qualified for the final, eventually finishing fifth with a time of 21.48s. In the 4 x 100 metres relay, he was part of the quartet that earned a bronze.
