Handeni is a city located in the Handeni Urban District, Tanga Region, Tanzania. It is the capital of both Handeni Town Council and Handeni District. The 2022 national census estimated the population of Handeni Town Council at 108,968. [1]
A paved secondary road connects Handeni with Korogwe in the northeast and Mkata in the southeast; both Korogwe and Mkata are on the T2 Trunk road from Dar es Salaam to Arusha. [2] Apparently Handeni is not a city, it is a small township.
Pangani District Council is one of eleven administrative districts of Tanga Region in Tanzania. The District covers an area of 1,756 km2 (678 sq mi). It is bordered to the north by Muheza District, to the east by Zanzibar Channel, to the south by the Chalinze District of Pwani Region, and to the west by the Handeni District. The district is comparable in size to the land area of Guadeloupe. The district seat (capital) and largest settlement in Pangani district is the town of Pangani. The district is named after the historic Pangani River. As of the 2022 census, the population was Pangani district was 75,642, making it the least populous district in Tanga Region.

It is bordered to the north by Mkinga District, to the east by Tanga and the Indian Ocean, to the south by the Pangani District and Handeni District, and to the west by the Korogwe District. The district is comparable in size to the land area of Guadeloupe. The town of Muheza, after which the district is named, serves as its administrative capital. According to the 2012 Tanzania National Census, the population of Muheza District had decreased to 238,260; this is less than ten years before, because Mkinga District was created that same year. The highest point in Muheza District is Kimbo Peak at 1,063m.
Kilindi is one of eleven administrative districts of Tanga Region in Tanzania. The District covers an area of 6,444 km2 (2,488 sq mi). It is bordered to the east by the Handeni District and Handeni Town Council, to the south west by the Kiteto District and north west by the Simanjiro District of Manyara Region. Kilindi District is bordered to the south by Gairo District and Kilosa District of Morogoro Region. The district created from Handeni District in 2002. The district seat (capital) is the town of Songe. According to the 2022 census, the district has a total population of 398,391.
Korogwe District also known as Korogwe District Council is one of the eleven districts of Tanga Region in Tanzania. The District covers an area of 6,534 km2 (2,523 sq mi). It is bordered to the northeast by the Lushoto District and north by Bumbuli District. Korogwe District also bordered to the east by the Mkinga District and the Muheza District, to the South by the Handeni Rural District and the Korogwe Urban District, and to the West by the Kilimanjaro Region. The highest point in Korogwe District is Mafi Peak at 1,442m.
