Hanne Andersen (born 1964) [1] is a Danish philosopher of science. She is a professor of science education at the University of Copenhagen,head of the Department of Science Education, [2] and a member of the research group on history and philosophy of science and science studies. [3]
Andersen earned a master's degree in physics and comparative literature at the University of Copenhagen in 1992. After working for two years as a curator at the Danish National Museum for the History of Science and Medicine,she returned to graduate study at Roskilde University,where she completed a Ph.D. in the philosophy of science in 1998. [2]
She became an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry and Informatics at the Royal Danish School of Educational Studies (Danmarks Lœrerhøjskole) in 1997,and in 1998 moved to the Department for Medical Philosophy and Clinical Theory at the University of Copenhagen,where she was promoted to associate professor in 2002. She moved again to the Department of Science Studies at Aarhus University in 2005,becoming head of department in 2009 and full professor of physics and astronomy in 2012. She returned to the University of Copenhagen in 2015,in her present position as professor and head of department in the Department of Science Education. [2]

Physics is the natural science of matter, involving the study of matter, its fundamental constituents, its motion and behavior through space and time, and the related entities of energy and force. Physics is one of the most fundamental scientific disciplines. A scientist who specializes in the field of physics is called a physicist.

Amongst its central questions are the difference between science and non-science, the reliability of scientific theories, and the ultimate purpose and meaning of science as a human endeavour. Philosophy of science focuses on metaphysical, epistemic and semantic aspects of scientific practice, and overlaps with metaphysics, ontology, logic, and epistemology, for example, when it explores the relationship between science and the concept of truth. Philosophy of science is both a theoretical and empirical discipline, relying on philosophical theorising as well as meta-studies of scientific practice. Ethical issues such as bioethics and scientific misconduct are often considered ethics or science studies rather than the philosophy of science.
Paul Karl Feyerabend was an Austrian philosopher best known for his work in the philosophy of science. He started his academic career as lecturer in the philosophy of science at the University of Bristol (1955–1958); afterwards, he moved to the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught for three decades (1958–1989). At various points in his life, he held joint appointments at the University College London (1967–1970), the London School of Economics (1967), the FU Berlin (1968), Yale University (1969), the University of Auckland, the University of Sussex (1974), and, finally, the ETH Zurich (1980–1990). He gave lectures and lecture series at the University of Minnesota (1958-1962), Stanford University (1967), the University of Kassel (1977) and the University of Trento (1992).

It comprises the methods that systemically advance the teaching, research, and practice of a scholarly or academic field of study through rigorous inquiry. Scholarship is creative, can be documented, can be replicated or elaborated, and can be and is peer reviewed through various methods. The scholarly method includes the subcategories of the scientific method, with which scientists bolster their claims, and the historical method, with which historians verify their claims.
The exact sciences or quantitative sciences, sometimes called the exact mathematical sciences, are those sciences "which admit of absolute precision in their results"; especially the mathematical sciences. Examples of the exact sciences are mathematics, optics, astronomy, and physics, which many philosophers from Descartes, Leibniz, and Kant to the logical positivists took as paradigms of rational and objective knowledge. These sciences have been practiced in many cultures from antiquity to modern times. Given their ties to mathematics, the exact sciences are characterized by accurate quantitative expression, precise predictions and/or rigorous methods of testing hypotheses involving quantifiable predictions and measurements.
