Lali was born in a landlord family belonging to village Fatehgarh near Lehragaga in Sangrur district in Punjab. He was married to Satwant Kaur in 1967 and had two sons and a daughter. Lali taught at Linguistics department in Punjabi University, Patiala before he retired. Though he never got published any book of his own, he was known to be a virtual treasure trove of world of art and literature. He carried on the oral tradition imparting a great deal of knowledge to those around him. [2] [3]
Noted Panjabi poet Navtej Bharati wrote a poetry book Lālī (ਲਾਲੀ) named after him and dedicated to him. [4]
Navjot Singh Sidhu is an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress, television personality and retired international cricketer. He is the former President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Formerly, he was the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in the state government of State of Punjab. Sidhu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004 and contested the general election from Amritsar that year. He won the election and held the seat till 2014 winning also the next election. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2016 from Punjab before he resigned from the position the same year and quit the party. In 2017, he joined the Indian National Congress and was elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Amritsar East. He lost in 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election from Amritsar East Assembly constituency.
Kunwar Natwar Singh, IFS was an Indian diplomat and politician who served as the Minister of External Affairs from May 2004 to December 2005. Having been suspended by the Congress in 2006, he joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 2008 but was removed from the party within four months.

Virbhadra Singh was an Indian politician who served 6 terms and 21 years as the 4th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Ala Singh (1691–1765) was the founder and first ruler of Patiala. Singh was born into the Sikh Phulkian dynasty, which had an ancient lineage, being direct descendants of Rawal Jaisal Singh, the founder and ruler of the Kingdom of Jaisalmer in the 12th century, and further back to Rao Bhati, a 3rd-century Hindu king. Rising to power through key battles in his early life, Singh expanded his territory in Punjab.
