Harry Dhami (born 17 April 1972) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1992 to 2003. He held the British welterweight title from 2000 to 2001, being the first British Asian to win a British title. [1]
Born and raised in Gravesend, Dhami initially fought at super welterweight. [2] He made his professional début in October 1992 with a points win over Johnny Pinnock. [3] After winning his first three fights he was held to a draw in October 1994 by Steve McNess. A run of four straight defeats followed up to the end of 1995.
Dhami found more success after dropping down to welterweight. He beat Ojay Abrahams in May 1996 to take the BBBofC Southern Area welterweight title, and went on to make four successful defences. [3] After building up a run of ten straight wins, he challenged for Derek Roche's British title in March 2000, taking the title on points. [3] He made successful defences against Malcolm Melvin (October 2000) and Spencer McCracken (November 2000), but didn't win the Lonsdale Belt outright as the rule was changed to require three defences. [4] [5] He lost the title on his third defence in November 2001 when he was stopped in the fifth round by Neil Sinclair. [3]
Dhami switched management to Tommy Gilmour, and was due to return to the ring in July 2003, but both his original opponent, Paul Knights, and his replacement, Jason Williams pulled out. [6] He returned in November 2003 to face super welterweight Lee Armstrong; Dhami won on points, but didn't fight again. [3] He was due to fight Jimmy Vincent in a British title eliminator in April 2004, but the fight was rescheduled for November 2004 after Vincent broke a hand in training. Dhami withdrew from the rescheduled fight due to "niggling injuries". [7]
He went on to start his own gym in Gravesend, the Elite Boxing and Fitness Gym. [3]
Lloyd Honeyghan is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 1995. He reigned as the undisputed welterweight champion from 1986 to 1987, and held the WBC, The Ring magazine welterweight titles twice between 1986 and 1989. At regional level he held the British, European and Commonwealth welterweight titles between 1983 and 1985, and the Commonwealth super-welterweight title from 1993 to 1994.
Richard John Hatton is a British former professional boxer who competed between 1997 and 2012, and has since worked as a boxing promoter and trainer. During his boxing career he held multiple world championships in the light-welterweight division, and one at welterweight. In 2005 he was named Fighter of the Year by The Ring magazine, the Boxing Writers Association of America, and ESPN.
Howard Anthony Eastman is a Guyanese-British former professional boxer who competed from 1994 to 2014. He challenged twice for middleweight world championships; the vacant WBA title in 2001; and the undisputed title against Bernard Hopkins in 2005. At regional level, he held the British, Commonwealth and EBU European middleweight titles twice each between 1998 and 2007.
Isufu "Ike" Quartey is a Ghanaian former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2006. He held the WBA welterweight title from 1994 to 1998, and challenged once for IBF junior-middleweight title in 2000.
Michael "The Lurcher" Jennings is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2010. He challenged once for the vacant WBO welterweight title in 2009. At regional level, he held the British welterweight title from 2005 to 2006. He has 2 sons, Mikey and Jack, and a daughter, Macy.
Junior Witter is a British former world champion professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2015. He held the WBC light welterweight world title from 2006 to 2008 and challenged once for the IBF light welterweight title in 2000. At regional level, he held the British and Commonwealth light welterweight title from 2002 to 2005; the EBU European Union light welterweight title in 2003; and the EBU European light welterweight title from 2004 to 2005; and the British welterweight title in 2012. Witter is Bradford's first World Boxing Champion.
Matthew James "Matty" Hatton is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2013. He held the European welterweight title from 2010 to 2011, and challenged once for the WBC light-middleweight title in the latter year. He is the younger brother of former two-division world champion of boxing, Ricky Hatton, and fought on the undercard of many of Ricky's high-profile fights.
Devon Alexander is an American professional boxer. He is a former world champion in two weight classes, having held the unified WBC and IBF light welterweight titles in 2010, and the IBF welterweight title from 2012 to 2013. Alexander was prescribed Tramadol after surgery in 2012, and thereafter had to battle opiate addiction, coming clean in 2018.
Raymond Reinaldo Oliveira is an American former professional boxer, known by the nickname 'Sucra'. He fought for world titles at both super-lightweight and welterweight, winning the International Boxing Union world welterweight title twice, in 2003 and 2004.
Ricky Burns is a Scottish professional boxer. Who won world titles in two weight divisions, having held the WBO super-featherweight title from 2010 to 2011; the WBO lightweight title from 2012 to 2014; and he also held the WBA (Regular) light welterweight title from 2016 to 2017. At regional level he held the Commonwealth super-featherweight title from 2008 to 2009, and has challenged for the British and European super-featherweight titles.
David Barnes is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2015. He held the British welterweight title from 2003 to 2004 and the British super lightweight title in 2008.
Ezekiel "Kell" Brook is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2022. He held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight title from 2014 to 2017, and challenged once for a unified middleweight world title in 2016. At regional level, he held multiple welterweight titles, including the British welterweight title from 2008 to 2010. In May 2017, Brook was ranked as the world's best active welterweight by The Ring magazine.
Jason Cook is a former professional boxer, who fought under the nickname "The Power". As an amateur, he won a silver medal for Wales at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. As a professional, he has fought as a lightweight, and has won both the European and IBO championships at the weight. He currently campaigns at Light-Welterweight, and fights out of Fight Academy Wales gym in Llanharan, South Wales under the guidance of professional coach Darren Wilson.
Ashley Theophane is a British professional boxer. He held the British super-lightweight title from 2011 to 2012 and challenged for the WBA super-lightweight title in 2016.
Freddie William Evans is a British professional boxer fighting in the 69 kg welterweight category. As an amateur, he won gold at the 2007 World Cadet Championships in Hungary and won gold for Wales at the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Ankara. He was the first Welsh boxer to achieve the feat in 86 years.
Samuel Maxwell is an English professional boxer. He held the Commonwealth light-welterweight title from 2021 to 2023 and the British light-welterweight title from 2021 to 2022. As an amateur he won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Pat Barrett is a British former professional boxer and now a boxing trainer and promoter. He held the British light welterweight title from 1989 and 1990, and was the European champion from 1990 to 1992. He went on to fight for the WBO Welterweight World title.
