Harald Frei (born 1 March 1951) is an Australian former first-class cricketer who represented Queensland.
Frei appeared six times for Australian rules football club Footscray during the 1973 VFL season.
In 1978,Frei played for Lockhart Football Club in the Farrer Football League and played in the NSW Football Championships. [1]
He later played football in the La Trobe Valley Football League and with the North Launceston Football Club, before moving to Brisbane where he played cricket for Toombul District Cricket Club. [2]
It was not until the age of 31 that he made his first-class cricket debut, picked to play against a Bob Willis led England XI. In a match that Queensland won,he dismissed the Test player Graeme Fowler for single figures in both innings and as well as David Gower twice. Even though he was picked primarily as a fast-medium bowler,he managed to top score for Queensland in their first innings. His 57 runs, which came off just 36 deliveries and included five sixes, ended when he was bowled by Norman Cowans. [3]
As a result of his strong showing against England,Frei made his Sheffield Shield debut the following week and went on to take 20 wickets at 38.75 for the 1982/83 season. [4] He performed better in Queensland's 1983/84 Shield campaign with 23 wickets at 24.08,helping them to their first final, which they lost to Western Australia. [5] Frei took 30 wickets and played in another final in 1985/86 before his form began deteriorating. He managed just eight wickets at 67.37 the following season and never represented Queensland again. [6]

He won the Sheffield Shield with New South Wales twice, and scored a century for Australia against India in the 1983 World Cup. His career was overshadowed, however,by an incident in 1981 in which he bowled an underarm delivery to New Zealand cricketer Brian McKechnie to prevent the batsman from hitting a six.

George Henry Stevens Trott was an Australian cricketer who played 24 Test matches as an all-rounder between 1888 and 1898. Although Trott was a versatile batsman, spin bowler and outstanding fielder,"it is as a captain that he is best remembered,an understanding judge of human nature". After a period of some instability and ill discipline in Australian cricket,he was the first in a succession of assertive Australian captains that included Joe Darling,Monty Noble and Clem Hill, who restored the prestige of the Test team. Respected by teammates and opponents alike for his cricketing judgement,Trott was quick to pick up a weakness in opponents. A right-handed batsman,he was known for his sound defence and vigorous hitting. His slow leg-spin bowling was often able to deceive batsmen through subtle variations of pace and flight, but allowed opposition batsmen to score quickly.
Alan Falconer Kippax was a cricketer for New South Wales (NSW) and Australia. Regarded as one of the great stylists of Australian cricket during the era between the two World Wars,Kippax overcame a late start to Test cricket to become a regular in the Australian team between the 1928–29 and 1932–33 seasons. A middle-order batsman,he toured England twice, and at domestic level was a prolific scorer and a highly considered leader of NSW for eight years. To an extent, his Test figures did not correspond with his great success for NSW and he is best remembered for a performance in domestic cricket—a world record last wicket partnership, set during a Sheffield Shield match in 1928–29. His career was curtailed by the controversial Bodyline tactics employed by England on their 1932–33 tour of Australia;Kippax wrote a book denouncing the tactics after the series concluded.

James Donald Higgs is a former Australian leg spinner who played in 22 Test matches between 1978 and 1981. In the words of Gideon Haigh "Jim Higgs was Australia's best legspinner between Richie Benaud and Warne. His misfortune was to play at a time when wrist-spin was nearly extinct, thought to be the preserve only of the eccentric and the profligate, and so to find selectors and captains with little empathy with his guiles."
