Harold Arvit Hamalainen [1] (20 June 1903 – 20 May 1975) [2] [3] was an Australian international rugby union player. Hamalainen played as a lock and claimed a total of three international rugby caps for Australia. He also achieved success in rugby league at an amateur level, representing Brisbane Firsts in 1925–26.

Born in Brisbane, Queensland, Hamalainen was of Finnish descent and a truck driver by profession. During World War II, he enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force (2nd AIF) in 1940, before being discharged in 1943. [1]

The team is the most successful in Rugby League World Cup history, having won the competition 12 times, and contested 15 of the 16 finals, only failing to reach the final in the 1954 inaugural tournament. Only five nations have beaten Australia in test matches, and Australia has an overall win percentage of 69%.

The 1948–49 Kangaroo tour was the seventh Kangaroo tour, in which the Australian national rugby league team travelled to Great Britain and France and played thirty-seven matches, including the Ashes series of three Test matches against Great Britain, an international match against Wales and two Test matches against the French. It followed the tour of 1937-38 and a cessation of overseas international tours due to World War II. The next was staged in 1952-53.

David Wright was an Australian professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s. A Queensland state and Australia national representative forward, he played in the Brisbane Rugby League for the Brothers club and in England's Northern Rugby Football League for the Warrington club.
